CHICAGO — NWS Chicago confirmed two tornadoes in the Chicago area – none in Belvidere, where a theater roof and marquee collapsed. Updates will appear here under the tornado tab.
57 tornadoes and more funnel clouds were reported in 7 states across the Midwest and South.
National Weather Service investigators will study each of these twisters over the next few days to track speed and strength.
There were nearly 300 reports of wind damage and gusts in the Chicago area of more than 70 mph.
164 reports of large hail, 26 reports of hail 2 inches or larger, the size of a chicken egg.
