4 drowned, 5 are missing from the overturned boat

MARATHON, Fla. (AP) — At least four people are believed to have drowned and rescuers are searching for five more off the Florida Keys after a homemade craft capsized during a failed migration attempt.

The U.S. Coast Guard said Sunday that nine people were rescued and one body was recovered Saturday after a boat capsized about 50 miles off Little Torch Key, Florida.

Some of those rescued were wearing life jackets, which likely saved their lives during waves that rose up to 8 feet in 30 mph winds.

The Coast Guard did not immediately say where the people on the boat were migrating from.
