CHICAGO (CBS) – Late Thursday night, police arrested a man suspected of kidnapping a little girl in the South Coast.

As reported on Thursday night by Jermont Terry of CBS 2, the little girl was taken to the Children’s Hospital Chambers of the University of Chicago to be examined. Although she had no external or visible scars or injuries, investigators and doctors had to make sure the girl was generally in order.

Late Thursday night it was not known how long the child had been alone with the man.

But we know that at 5:37 p.m., police received a call about the abduction of a man in Quarter 7,600 on South Coles Avenue. It seems that someone in the area saw a man walking with a girl and thought the child was in trouble.

When the officers arrived, a man matching the description was spotted on the second-floor balcony. As officers approached, they noticed that the man had committed, in the eyes of the girl, what police called “indecent acts.”

It is unclear whether the child was on the balcony with the man at the time, or how the man took possession of the child.

Police immediately detained the man and took the girl to hospital for examination.

Detectives of District Two are investigating and speaking to the girl late Thursday. Her age is not specified, but she is under 10 years old.
