Milwaukee, Wisconsin (WDJT) – The tragedy takes place on Mother’s Day. A 19-year-old Navy sailor was killed in West Ellis on the morning of Sunday, May 8th. Phoenix Caston is usually the first sibling to tell his mom “Happy Mother’s Day”. This year he did not have the opportunity to call her.

He was shot around 84 and Rogers around 2:40 p.m.

“He had a heart of gold, he was a defender,” said Tiata Nez-Dunklin. She is Caston’s mother.

Guarded what he was doing the night he was killed.

West Allis police say Caston was hanging out with several friends. One of the women was wanted by a man in a car as she was walking down 84th Street. She got scared and ran to the car in which Caston was sitting at the time. He went out and approached the man. The two exchanged words. The man pulled out a gun and shot Caston.

“I am proud of them, this is how we brought him up, protect the weak. He is my hero. “

Caston is originally from Arizona. It was located in the Great Lakes, Illinois. Caston was at the end of his training to become a gunner’s partner. This goal was missed.

“I am angry at the world for being who he is,” Nez-Dunklin said.

West Allis police say the shooter is still there. Anyone with useful information should call the police at 414-302-8019
