After a 10-hour delay, here are the $1.9 billion Powerball winning numbers | Main stories

(NBC CHICAGO) – Check your tickets: More than 10 hours after Monday’s $1.9 billion Powerball jackpot drawing was set to take place, the winning numbers have been released.

“It’s been a long wait, but the numbers are finally in,” Powerball’s statement read at 9:04 a.m. CST Tuesday.

According to Powerball, the winning numbers are 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56, with Powerball 10.

And wait a long time indeed.

At 10:07 p.m. Monday, eight minutes after the winning numbers for the historic $1.9 billion Powerball drawing were scheduled to be announced, Lottery officials made the announcement.

“Today’s Powerball drawing has been delayed due to lottery participation requiring additional time to implement necessary security protocols.” The California Lottery tweeted. “Powerball has strict security requirements that all 48 lotteries must meet before a drawing can take place.”

“After following the necessary security protocols, the drawing will be conducted under the supervision of lottery security personnel and independent auditors,” the statement said. “Winning numbers will be posted as soon as they are available. Thank you for your patience”

About an hour and a half later, at 11:38 p.m., another update was added to the tweet.

“UPDATE: #Powerball the drawing is still delayed,” the California Lottery said. “There is a problem in another state. This is not related to California Lottery delays. The approximate time of the draw has not yet been determined.”

Overnight, Powerball lottery officials confirmed that there is delay.

As of 6:25 a.m. CST, Tuesday, the numbers have not yet been drawn. “If you’re just waking up expecting to see the winning Powerball numbers for Monday, Nov. 7,” Powerball said in a statement, “you’re going to have to wait a little longer.”

However, at 8:09 a.m. CST, about 10 hours after the Powerball drawing was scheduled to take place, the winning numbers were drawn, according to Powerball updates.

Winning numbers are 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56, with Powerball 10.

So, did you win?

Here’s what we know about why the draw was delayed.

According to lottery officials, one of the states participating in the Powerball game “failed to comply with its security protocols in a timely manner.”

“After following the necessary security protocols, the drawing will be conducted under the supervision of lottery security personnel and independent auditors,” the Multistate Lottery Association said in a statement.

In other words: one state was not ready in time.

$2 Powerball tickets can be purchased in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Five states—Utah, Nevada, Hawaii, Alaska and Alabama—do not have a lottery.

According to Multistate Lottery Association officials, we may never know which state caused the delay.

“It is against our policy to call a lottery that has encountered a delay,” the association said early Tuesday.

The Illinois Lottery has commented on the delay.
