Brighton Park man’s second fatal hit-and-run in 3 days, police say

A 71-year-old man was found dead in the street Wednesday morning, apparently hit by an unknown driver, police said.

The fatal crash in Brighton Park in the 4600 block of Southern California Avenue was the second fatal hit-and-run this week. Monica Eason, 42, died Monday after she was struck by a car in the West Garfield Park crosswalk in the 900 block of South Pulaski Road, authorities said.

Paramedics took Eason to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead after the crash at 8:33 p.m., police said. Authorities described the vehicle that hit her as a brown SUV and said the vehicle continued southbound. Police said the drivers of both fatal crashes are not in custody.

Another violent hit-and-run left a 38-year-old woman with “incapacitating injuries” after she was struck by an unidentified vehicle while crossing a crosswalk in the 600 block of Rush Street in Streeterville at 7:50 p.m. Friday, according to police. . The woman was taken to Northwestern Hospital and listed in good condition, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner has not yet identified a 71-year-old man who died in a crash in Brighton Park Wednesday night. The man was found at 6:41 a.m., the police said.
