CTA Purple and Brown lines suspended temporarily in the north due to death investigation at Belmont Avenue station

CHICAGO (CBS) – Travelers on Friday morning should expect delays as some CTA trains are temporarily suspended on the Brown and Purple lines due to a death investigation at the Belmont Avenue stop.

Due to police activities on Belmont Avenue, traffic on the Brown Line between Southport and Loop has been temporarily suspended.

The Purple Line Express service has been temporarily suspended due to police activities on Belmont Avenue.

According to Chicago Police, a man between the ages of 25 and 30 was found unanswered on the railroad’s southern inner rails at 900 West Belmont Avenue.

Police said the man suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the death is under way.
