MOSCOW (AP) – WNBA star lawyer Britney Greener said on Friday that her previous detention in Russia has been extended by one month.
Green’s lawyer, Alexander Boykov, told the Associated Press that he believes the relatively short extension of his detention indicates that the case will be sent to court soon.
Two-time Olympic gold medalist Greener was detained at Moscow’s airport after vape cartridges containing cannabis oil were allegedly found in her luggage, which could result in 10 years in prison.
The Biden administration says 31-year-old Greener is being detained illegally. Representatives of the WNBA and the United States worked on her release, but without visible progress.
