In Oak Lawn, an SUV hit a woman to death

OAK LAWN, Ill. — A pedestrian was killed in a crash Tuesday night, police said.

According to police, a brown Toyota van driven by a woman turned from Costner Avenue South onto westbound 95th Street and struck a woman pedestrian in the roadway.

According to police, the pedestrian was pinned under the vehicle before emergency services arrived.

Emergency crews transported the pedestrian to Christ Advocate Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

This accident is currently under investigation by the Oak Lawn Police Traffic Unit. The lane closure at 95th Street will continue into the evening.

Police will not release the victim’s name until authorities notify the family.
