ISP: 2 suspects killed after jumping into Little Calumet River after chase; 3 more detainees

CHICAGO (CBS) – Two suspects were killed and three others are in custody after a chase with Illinois police on Saturday morning.

According to initial information, at about 4:40 the military found and tracked down a car that had been stolen on 173rd Street and Torrance Avenue. According to the provider, several suspects got out of the stolen car and went into another.

Soldiers initiated the chase, which ended after a car crashed on 127th Street and Indiana Avenue.

Three of the suspects have been taken into custody. Police said an unknown number of suspects jumped into the Little Kalumet River.

Chicago Marine Corps units drove to the scene to help with the search. Two suspects were pulled out of the water and taken to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries and were later pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.
