McHenry County health report shows more than 170 sickened after visiting DC Cobb’s
McHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Health Department has completed its investigation of DC Cobb’s and found that more than 170 people have become ill following an outbreak.
The investigation began after a cluster of illnesses was linked to a restaurant in the 1200 block of North Green Street in late August.
MCDH conducted a study that identified 173 people who became ill after eating at the restaurant. Norovirus was identified as the causative agent.
However, the investigation could not determine exactly how it was administered.
After staff conducted the review, DC Cobb staff and management responded quickly — and “drastically” reduced the number of transfers, MCDH said.
“DC Cobb’s management has cooperated fully with the outbreak investigation team and continues to work with Environmental Health Division staff to implement additional strategies to prevent future public health issues,” said Patti Nome, MCDH Director of Environmental Health.
