EKL GROVE VILLAGE, Illinois (CBS) – One driver was killed and another received life-threatening injuries when a charter bus crashed into his car on the Jane Addams toll road on Friday afternoon.
According to Illinois police, the accident happened just before 3pm in the western lanes of Highway 90 near Bass Road, near the village of Elk Grove.
The 62-year-old Chicago was driving a 2004 beige Nissan, the 66-year-old Willing was riding a charter bus in the right lane. The charter bus for unknown reasons drove into the Nissan lane and crashed into a Nissan, state police said.
Nissan rolled onto the roof on his left shoulder. The charter bus crossed all lanes and stopped on the right side of the roadway.
A man driving a charter bus died at the scene. A woman driving a Nissan was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
I-90 westbound on Busse Road was closed for hours after the crash, but reopened at 6:33 p.m.
