Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver of a 2016 Malibu that struck a pedestrian as she crossed the street, seriously injuring her.

A pedestrian was trying to cross 79th Street and East End Avenue Thursday when she was struck by a Malibu traveling westbound on 79th Street around 8:40 p.m. After hitting the victim, the car continued driving, police said.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

The vehicle was described as a light-colored 2013-2016 Chevrolet Malibu with Illinois license plates. Police said the vehicle had damage to the right front end, hood and windshield. The Malibu also has a long, dark badge on the driver’s side door.

The Malibu was last seen heading west on 79th toward Stony Island Avenue.

Anyone with information about the accident should contact the police.
