WAUKEGAN, Ill. – A missing Navy SEAL who was found last month in Lake Michigan in Waukegan died of drowning, the coroner said, but the manner of his death has not yet been determined.
Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton said Seamus Gray died of drowning and a toxicology test showed his blood alcohol concentration was 0.14.
An investigation by Waukegan police, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the coroner’s office has not determined the manner of death, Newton said in an email.
Coroner’s office said before An autopsy revealed that there were no significant injuries that would have contributed to his death.
Gray, a US Navy sailor stationed at Naval Air Station Great Lakes, is missing March 18 after he and his friends were kicked out of the Ibiza bar in downtown Waukegan because they were drunk.
His body was later found on April 19 when ComEd workers doing routine work found his body near the harbor.
