NEPERVILLE, Illinois (CBS) – A motorcyclist is in critical condition after colliding with a semi-truck on Wednesday morning in Napierville.

At about 10:24 a.m., police and firefighters were sent to the intersection of 59th Illinois Highway and 95th Street.

The motorcyclist, a 37-year-old man from Naperville, in a 2012 gray Kawasaki was driving south when he drove straight through an intersection and collided with a semi-truck driving west.

According to police, the motorcycle caught fire, causing the trailer and a half to catch fire.

Due to the nature of the accident, traffic accident reconstruction specialists from the Traffic Department of the Naperville Police Department and the Metropolitan Emergency Response Investigation Group (MERIT) went to the scene to investigate.

Parts of Route 59 and 95th Illinois Street to the south were closed for investigation. Roads opened around 4:33 p.m.

The investigation into the accident continues.
