Someone is working on a proper remake of Need for Speed Underground 2 in Unreal Engine 4, and it looks pretty impressive with lots of features.
Many fans consider the second Underground series from the Need for Speed series to be the best in the franchise, and a devoted fan is currently working on his own fan remake of the game. The fan remake was created by YouTuber “Ivan Novozhilov” and has many features that made the original game stand out, including a soundtrack from Underground games. In addition, this remake features optimized visual effects, optimized weather cycle, new textures, updated steering, suspension compression sounds, car turbo and nitrogen, optimized automatic transmission and clutch and more.
We’ve included 10 minutes of gameplay from this impressive project below, along with a list of features that are currently included in this unfinished project:
Features Need for Speed Underground 2 Fan Remake UE4
-nitrogen (not used here)
-Earn NOS by doing some things (airy, full-fledged, almost emergency …)
– Brand new steering.
-Optimized automatic transmission and clutch
-Fixed slip ratio (no longer stuttering)
-sounds of collisions and sparks
-compressive suspension sounds
– engine sounds are made except for two. the analysis tool is not good enough for them. maybe someone knows someone who can transfer the files to make it work again. at least we now have proper engine sounds.
-sweet tooth (hear the backlash)
-Sounds of turbo, sweeteners, engine, transmission are performed and selected depending on performance.
– Behavior has changed dramatically. it is still under development and much refined, heavily dependent on slip and grip angle, these values vary with speed to allow arcade behavior and good skidding at low speeds. depending on the game mode this may change dramatically in the future.
-each island has a distinctive color.
-Optimized graphics for much better performance and overall more
-optimized weather cycle
-added more missing networks
-movement node system (you don’t see, but it is)
-more optimized camera shake
-more optimized radial blur in motion
-destructive environment (signs, barrels of water …)
-implemented music from UG1, UG2, MW. You can also skip tracks or go back (QOL hack ()
– sounds of high school
-new camera delay and rotate (lag)
-drive counter + excellent messages
-drift zones (these blue red and white striped stickers) are used for additional multipliers along with speed to estimate drift.
-menus are being prepared and are already partially working, but not shown here.
Overall, this gameplay looks pretty spectacular and offers what fans of the original game liked. Whether this remake for fans will ever be released to the public is not yet known, but based on the authenticity of the project, the project is likely to face suspension and rejection of EA.
