Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen divorce, Jerry Lee Lewis dies, and more celeb news
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have finalized their divorce
The 45-year-old sports star and Gisele, 42, have confirmed their split via statements released on social media.
Tom wrote on Instagram: “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.”
The NFL star – who has Vivian, nine, and Benjamin, 12, with the model, as well as John, 15, with Bridget Moynahan – conceded that their split was “painful and difficult”.
Jerry Lee Lewis dies aged 87
The rock and roll pioneer died of natural causes at his home in DeSoto County, Mississippi.
Zach Farnum, a rep for the iconic star, said: “Judith, his seventh wife, was by his side when he passed away at his home in Desoto County, Mississippi, south of Memphis.
“He told her, in his final days, that he welcomed the hereafter, and that he was not afraid.”
The controversial star rose to fame in the 50s, and his popularity helped to establish rock and roll as the dominant musical genre in the US during the decade.

Kanye West’s Twitter account has been restored.
The 45-year-old rap star was suspended from the platform earlier this month after he posted an anti-Semitic tweet – but new Twitter owner Elon Musk has now confirmed that Kanye’s account has been restored.
The 51-year-old businessman – who recently acquired Twitter in a $44 billion deal – wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints.
“No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes. (sic)”

Simon Cowell: ‘I had my first drink and smoke aged eight’
Simon Cowell started drinking and smoking aged eight.
The X Factor creator, 62, has also admitted he was a “nightmare” as a child and told how he once got arrested aged 12 for pointing a pea-shooting gun at a terrified bus driver in an attempt to hijack the vehicle.
He told The Sun newspaper on Sunday (30.10.22) about how he was a terror when he was his eight-year-old son Eric’s age: “I was so bad when I was Eric’s age. I was a nightmare.’
“I was drinking and smoking at eight, and I once nearly burned the house down.
“I was trying to prove to my brother that Father Christmas wasn’t real, so I found the costume and set fire to the beard.
“I dropped it on the sofa and the sofa caught fire. The whole room went up.
“Luckily, my older brother smelled the smoke and found us. Then the fire brigade came.”
Talking about his arrest, Simon, who shares Eric with fiancée Lauren Silverman, 45, added: “I stole my dad’s car at ten and crashed it. Then when I was 12, I hijacked a bus with a pea gun.
“I thought it wouldn’t be taken seriously, but the driver called the police and I was arrested. I remember going back home and my mum being furious.
“She was the disciplinarian, my dad was always the softer one.
“He said so many things that stuck with me, but I can’t remember him ever raising his voice to me.
“But I was so bad, slightly living on the edge. I was smart, but I wasn’t academic at all. I could have never been a doctor and I had a very low boredom threshold.
“So it was school after school, and then I was out at 16.”
Despite his antics, Simon also said he was “unbelievably shy” as a youngster.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer DH Peligro dead aged 63
Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer DH Peligro has died aged 63.
The musician, born Darren Henley, hit his head in a fall at his home in Los Angeles and died shortly after on Friday (28.10.22), with his passing confirmed on Saturday.
After his brief stint with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in 1988, he went on to join The Dead Kennedys, who announced his passing online by saying: “Dead Kennedys’ drummer D.H. Peligro (Darren Henley) passed away in his Los Angeles home yesterday, Oct 28th.
“He died from trauma to his head from an accidental fall. Arrangements are pending will be announced in the coming days.
“Thank you for your thoughts and words of comfort.”
Darren replaced the original drummer of The Dead Kennedys in 1981 and stayed with the group until their break up in 1986, before taking over from drummer Jack Irons in the Red Hot Chilli Peppers two years later.
He wrote songs on the group’s fourth album ‘Mother’s Milk’, though did not perform on it and was fired from the band in November 1988 and was replaced by its current drummer Chad Smith.
Darren also performed with bands such as The Hellations, Jungle Studs, Nailbomb, The Feederz, Lock-Up, The Two Free Stooges, Reverend Jones and SSI and fronted his own band Peligro, with whom he released three albums.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers bassist Flea said on Instagram alongside a black and white picture of Darren: “My dear friend, my brother I miss you so much. I’m devastated today, a river of tears, but all my life I will treasure every second.
“The first time I saw you play with the DK’s in ’81 you blew my mind. The power, the soul, the recklessness.
“You became my beloved friend, so many times of every kind. We had so much fun, so much joy, having each other’s backs.
“I love you with all my heart. You are the truest rocker, and a crucial part of rhcp history.
“DHP in the place to be, you live forever in our hearts, you wild man, you bringer of joy, you giant hearted man. I will always honor you. Rest In Peace and freedom from all that restrained you.”
James Corden has stopped Googling himself
James Corden has stopped Googling himself.
The Late Late Show host, 44, admitted he can no longer tolerate seeing the abuse he receives online, and says it does not match up with the friendliness he experiences from fans on the street.
He told The Times newspaper on Saturday (29.10.22): “I’ve just stopped reading it (Internet comments about him.) I just won’t do it.
“I don’t Google myself, I don’t read anything about myself. I can remember when Keira Knightley was talking about the things that people used to write about her, and then she just realised, ‘Oh. I don’t have to read this. It’s nothing to do with me. I’ll just concentrate on the work’.”
“It’s weird, because I walk around London, New York, LA, and people are lovely, you know? It’s a f****** kick… people are so nice about what I do.
“I was cycling around (London), and I was cycling through this filter of just hearing my name, over and over – people shouting out, thumbs up. Genuinely and honestly, I mainly only ever get positive stuff.”
James has been hit with trolls after he was called a “tiny cretin of a man” by restaurateur Keith McNally, 71, who barred him for life from his Balthazar eaterie for allegedly being rude to staff over a mix-up with an egg-yolk omelette.
James’ Balthazar ban was then lifted after Keith said he called him to apologise.
The actor also insisted to The Times he complained at Balthazar as his wife Julia Carey, 46, with whom he shares three children, suffers from a “serious” egg white allergy.
He added: “I have never talked about eggs this much… people keep telling me, ‘This is the world we live in!’ And I don’t know if that’s right. I think it’s a world we’re actively creating, engaging in and encouraging. It’s scary. Really scary.”
“And you know, the reason I had to send the omelette back is because Jules is allergic to egg white. That’s why we’d ordered an egg-yolk omelette. Her actual words were, ‘But don’t worry if you can’t manage it.'”
Matthew Perry almost missed taking part in ‘Friends’ reunion show
Matthew Perry almost missed participating in the ‘Friends’ reunion show.
The 53-year-old actor said he nearly couldn’t take part in the 2021 special featuring the cast of the sitcom as he had undergone emergency dental surgery a few days before taping that left his mouth feeling “like fire”.
His top teeth had fallen out after he bit into a piece of peanut butter toast and he said he carried them in a bag to a dentist to have the operation.
Matthew, who played Chandler Bing for all 10 seasons of ‘Friends’ from 1994 to 2004, made the admission in an interview with Diane Sawyer, saying it left his voice sounding “off” on the reunion show.
He added: “I couldn’t not show up. So, what I chose to do was just go and do the best that I could… it sounded like my voice was off.”
The chat with Diane, 76, was part of his ongoing promotion of his upcoming memoir ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing’, in which he details his decades battling drug and drink addictions.
He said about wanting to use his experience to help others due to his celebrity status: “For some reason, it’s obviously because I was on ‘Friends’, more people will listen to me, so I’ve got to take advantage of that – I’ve got to help as many people as I can.”
Matthew also admitted to Diane the “weirdest” thing he did to feed his addictions was going to open houses so he could steal pills from medicine cabinets.
He said: “On Sundays, I would go to open houses and go to the bathrooms in the open house and see what pills they had in there and steal them. And I think they thought, ‘Well, there’s no way that Chandler came in and stole from us.'”
Matthew has said he was on 55 pain killers a day and dropped down to only 128lbs in weight in the depths of his pills addiction.
He also tells in his autobiography he woke up “50 to 60” times covered in his faeces while using a colostomy bag fitted after surgery to treat his exploded colon, which burst due to his drug and drink use.
Kanye West ‘may be months away from financial catastrophe’
Kanye West may reportedly be months away from “financial catastrophe”.
Sources told Page Six on Sunday (30.10.22) the 45-year-old rapper could face ruin if he can’t work out a way to stop brands cutting ties with him in the wake of his anti-Semitic outbursts.
An insider said the estimated $5 million a year he receives in royalties is merely “about enough to pay his gas bill for his jet”.
One source added even though Kanye has “a lot of cash by anyone’s standards” he also has a “high cash burn rate”.
Page Six quoted insiders saying even though the dad-of-four has more than $100 million in the bank, due to his lifestyle it could be used up in a matter of “months”.
One said: “It’s all about cash flow and if slash when he can revive it.”
Kanye’s team were last month said to have tested the waters for selling his music catalogue for around $135 million, but apparently did not get strong interest.
Adidas is halting payments to Kanye, while Gap ended its two-year-old deal with him in September.
The rapper was due to have a show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on November 4 but it has been cancelled by the venue and Page Six said insiders say he has “no others booked” and it is “unlikely venues will book him amid the scandals”.
The outlet added: “We’re told West has an album in the can, but there’s no deal to distribute it at this time.”
Kanye’s deal with the Def Jam label ended in 2021 and his recent spending has included buying a $57 million mansion in Malibu, California, which is in the process of being gutted and rebuilt.
He announced in 2016 he was $54 million in debt, which was linked to his attempts to launch a fashion line and lavish lifestyle.
Gisele Bundchen thinks Tom Brady is a ‘great dad’ amid their divorce
Gisele Bundchen thinks Tom Brady is a “great dad” amid their divorce.
The 42-year-old model married sports star Tom, 45, since 2009 and has children Benjamin, 12, Vivian, nine, with him but the pair announced their divorce had been finalised on Friday (28.10.22) but a source has alleged the kids have been “slowly getting used” to the idea of their separation for some time.
A source said: “Tom is always happy when he is with his kids. The kids have slowly been getting used to spending separate time with Tom and Gisele. They lived separately for months. When the kids are with Tom, he tries to make it fun with various kids’ activities. He is a very involved dad. You can tell that he loves being a dad. [Gisele]worked with Tom to make sure their divorce was as smooth as possible. The focus is on their kids. Gisele knows the kids will be okay when they are with Tom. She thinks he is a great dad.”
The insider went on to explain that the pair “haven’t had the same goal” for their marriage but do have the same goal when it comes to their children and Gisele is “grateful” for the years she has spent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback.
The source told PEOPLE: “They obviously haven’t had the same goal for their relationship, but they do for their kids. They will continue to work hard to make sure things will be as good as possible for the kids. Gisele couldn’t be prouder of her kids. She tries to stay in a positive place. She is grateful for all the years with Tom. She is ready for a new chapter now though.”
The comments come just days after Tom explained that he and Gisele had split “amicably” and insisted their children will “continue to be the center” of their world.
He wrote on Instagram: “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve. (sic)”
Tim Burton refuses to watch his own movies
Tim Burton refuses to watch his own films and compares seeing clips of his work to attending a funeral.
The director has produced memorable movies such as ‘Edward Scissorhands’, ‘Batman Returns’ and ‘Beetlejuice’ but he’s confessed he doesn’t enjoy watching the films he’s created – and actively avoids having to watch any of them back.
Speaking to Deadline.com, he explained: “I don’t really watch my movies. It was strange seeing the clips. I got quite emotional.”
He went on to explain he sees each of his movies as representing a period of time in his life so it feels strange to watch them again.
Tim added: “It feels like each film you do is part of your life and is very deep and meaningful so it’s like watching your life flashing before your eyes – that’s why I likened it to a funeral in a way, in a beautiful way, it captures moments of your life.”
It comes after the moviemaker sidestepped rumours suggesting he might be in line to direct a sequel to 1988’s ‘Beetlejuice’. When asked whether he would be involved in a new movie, he told the website: “Nothing is out of the question”.
He added: “I only know if I’m making a film when I’m actually on the set shooting. I try to go back to the root of everything. It springs from a seed and then it grows, rather than out of these statements. I am working on ideas and things but it’s all very early days. We’ll set how it goes. How’s that for a non answer?”
Eva Mendes was sick of being offered rubbish roles
Eva Mendes quit acting because she was sick of being offered “s****” roles.
She’s best known for appearing in ‘Hitch’ and ‘Ghost Rider’, but the Hollywood star hasn’t appeared in any blockbusters for more than a decade.
After only appearing in three projects between 2013 and 2021, speculation followed that the actress gave up Hollywood for good.
Speaking on the ‘Fitzy and Wippa’ podcast, the mum of three, who shares daughters Esmeralda Amada, eight, and Amada Lee, six with her actor husband Ryan Gosling, she addressed the claims explaining she left to focus on the family.
She said: “I would get back into acting for a great role, I took time off to be with the kids because they were just so little, our older one just turned eight.
“But it’s also because there are just some pretty s**** roles being offered to me and I’m just so sick of taking them. I was sick of it. I said ‘you know what it’s not worth it’. If I’m gonna go away for a few months, I might as well do something that’s damn good.”
Mendes recently admitted her 2014 performance in Ryan Gosling’s directing debut ‘Lost River’ was the high point in her career and she is up for anything except violence and sexuality.
She wrote on Instagram: “I never quit acting.
“I wanted to be home with my babies and fortunately my other business ventures allowed me to do that more than acting would.
“Also, I was not excited about the stereotypical roles being offered to me at the time. Especially after working on the film LOST RIVER – that was a dream project. That’s a tough act to follow. What’s the point of this post? To shift that narrative. I never quit. I have such a shortlist of what I will do.
“Like, before kids, I was kinda up for anything, you know, if it was a fun project. But now I won’t do violence. I don’t want to do sexuality. The list is short.”
Sophia Grace ‘couldn’t face telling her dad about her pregnancy
Sophia Grace “couldn’t face” telling her dad about her pregnancy.
The 19-year-old star – who shot to fame on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ at the age of eight alongside her younger cousin Rosie McClelland, when the TV host spotted them singing Nicki Minaj’s hit ‘Super Bass’ on YouTube and invited them to become regular cast members – is expecting her first child with her mystery boyfriend but revealed that while her mother was “really excited” about the news, it was “hard” to tell her father.
She said: “The first person that actually knew was my mom. My mom’s reaction obviously, at the start, she was a little bit like, ‘Oh wow.’ But she just got used to it straight away and she was always really happy and excited about it. Just in any normal family, it’s sort of a hard thing to tell your dad–when you’re a girl–that you’re pregnant, and I’m sure people understand it can be a little bit awkward. We were trying to think of a way to tell my dad and, eventually, I just got my mom to tell him because I couldn’t face doing it myself.”
The Youtuber went on to explain that she initially thought her dad might feel concerned over her young age but insisted that she feels “ready” to become a mother.
She told E! News: “I thought he might be like, ‘Maybe you’re a bit young,’ or something because I am quite young. It’s not really about age. It’s just depending on whether you feel ready or not–and I think I definitely feel ready.”
Her comments come just days after Rosie, 16, revealed she burst into tears” when she learned her cousin was expecting.
She said: “I literally froze and then burst into tears and then Sophia
showed me her scan picture. I’m so happy for Sophia. She has always been amazing with children and she’s gonna be an amazing mum. She also has a very supportive family around her to help and I’m gonna be there every step of the way! I can’t wait to buy the baby loads of cute clothes.”
Evan Peters; I brought a lot of darkness and negativity to Dahmer
Evan Peters brought in a “lot of darkness and negativity” to his role as Jeffrey Dahmer.
The 35-year-old actor stars as the notorious serial killer – who was convicted of murdering 17 men betweenn1978 and 1991 – in the Netflix series ‘Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’ and explained that he wanted to give “120 percent” but felt able to “breathe” once shooting had wrapped.
He said: “Doing the role, I wanted to give it 120 percent the whole way through, so I brought in a lot of darkness and negativity. It was just having that end goal in sight, knowing when we were going to wrap and finally being able to breathe and let it go and say, ‘OK, now it’s time to bring in the joy and the lightness and watch comedies and romances and go back to St. Louis and see my family and friends and yeah, watch (2008 comedy movie) ‘Step Brothers.'”
The true crime series was co-written by ‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy, who explained that he “had something to say as an artist” and wanted to tell a story about “systemic racism.”
In the joint interview, he told The Hollywood Reporter: “We tried to interpret the story but also going into that we definitely had something to say. I had something as an artist. I felt this was the biggest thing that I had ever worked on that sort of explored the idea of white privilege. I mean, this guy was basically busted 10 times and got away, and I wanted to tell that story. I wanted to tell a story about homophobia. I wanted to tell a story about policing. I wanted to tell a story about racism, systemic racism. We were very conscious of talking about all of those things over and over and over in the writers room and with the actors as well.”
Prince Jackson thinks of Michael Jackson ‘every day’
Prince Jackson still thinks about his dad Michael “every day”.
The pop icon died in June 2009, aged 50, and Prince admits that his dad is never far from his thoughts.
Prince explained: “I think about him every day.
“There are a lot of complexities in life that I feel parents teach their children [about], so without that, there’s some confusion there. And also, it’s a big legacy to uphold, you know? It would be great if I knew how he would like it to be upheld. So, in that way, I think about him every day.”
Prince, 25, still loves listening to his dad’s music.
And he thinks that Michael’s personality shines through in his tunes.
Prince told PEOPLE: “So much of his personality, so much of him, is in his music. And what I miss probably the most about him, I was talking to somebody about it, are his hands. He had really strong, really big hands. Firm, but they were gentle. It’s tough to explain.”
The Jackson family are celebrating 40 years since the release of Michael’s best-selling album, ‘Thriller’.
And Prince still has fond memories of watching the iconic ‘Thriller’ video for the first time.
He said: “The first time that I watched it, my dad told me it was real, and then he started to transform. So that was very traumatic, but afterward – when I was able to watch it and not be scared – he would walk me through it, and I got to see the making of ‘Thriller’ from his perspective, you know? And that’s just amazing.”
Prince is now working towards catapulting ‘Thriller’ to the top of the charts.
He explained: “The single, never made it to number one. So our goal, we’re trying to do the ‘Thriller’ challenge right now, which is between October 28th and I believe November 1st or 2nd.”
I’ve been beat to a pulp, says Kanye West
Kanye West claims to have been “beat to a pulp” in recent weeks.
The 45-year-old rap star has recently lost lucrative contracts with the likes of Balenciaga, Adidas and Gap after he posted an anti-Semitic message on social media, and Kanye has now taken to Instagram to bemoan his situation and the perceived lack of transparency in the business world.
The outspoken star said on the photo-sharing platform: “While I’m still allowed on Mark Zuckerburg platform
“I’m going to say this again
“So we can or better yet will do better business
“I’ve been beat to a pulp and there’s still no accountability. (sic)”
Kanye also captioned the post: “The “unknown powers” are trying to destroy my life off of a tweet So does this prove that my so called suspicion was true? Leading with love This is #lovespeech (sic)”
Kanye made the comments shortly after his Twitter account was restored to the platform.
The ‘Stronger’ hitmaker was recently suspended from the platform after he posted an anti-Semitic tweet – but new Twitter owner Elon Musk confirmed that Kanye’s account has already been restored.
The 51-year-old businessman – who recently acquired Twitter in a $44 billion deal – wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints.
“No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes. (sic)”
In response, an account called Republicans against Trumpism asked the new Twitter boss: “So why did you restore already Kanye West’s account? Twitter should not be a platform to spew racism and antisemitism (sic)”
Elon – who is a friend of the controversial rap star – then explained: “Ye’s account was restored by Twitter before the acquisition. They did not consult with or inform me. (sic)”
I enjoy feeling muscular, says Khloe Kardashian
Khloe Kardashian likes to feel “muscular”.
The 38-year-old star has become a fitness enthusiast over recent years – but Khloe doesn’t “just want to be skinny”.
She explained: “I like muscle. I know some girls, they just want to be slender, but I like to be muscular.
“[I like to] strengthen my body. I don’t just want to be skinny, I want to be really strong.
“Everyone has their own aspirations and body goals, but I love when I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I have new muscle definition,’ or I finally have that tricep cut that I’ve always wanted.”
Khloe approaches her fitness plan as a journey for her “mind, body and soul”.
The TV star also believes that she’s reaping the rewards for her hard work in the gym.
She told PEOPLE: “Fitness just plays hand in hand with mental health, and when I just sit in the gym, I feel so accomplished. What you give to the gym, you get out of it.”
By contrast, Khloe previously admitted that the pressure to look “perfect” has been “too much to bear” at times.
Alongside a short video showing off her body on Instagram, Khloe wrote: “Hey guys, this is me and my body unretouched and unfiltered. The photo that was posted this week is beautiful. But as someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering in bad lighting or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working so hard to get it to this point – and then shares it to the world – you should have every right to ask for it to not be shared – regardless of who you are.
“In truth, the pressure, constant ridicule and judgment my entire life to be perfect and to meet other’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear.”
I’m proudly single, says Saweetie
Saweetie is “proud” to be single.
The 29-year-old rap star has revealed that she plans to address the speculation about her love life on her new album, ‘The Single Life’.
Saweetie – who previously dated rapper Quavo of Migos – told PEOPLE: “I feel like a lot of my private love life has been publicised on the media and the internet, so it’s time for me to speak up.
“I think the best way to respond to my perception is through the music ’cause honestly, if you don’t know me personally, I’m not gonna have a personal conversation online.”
Saweetie also insists that she’s “comfortable” being single.
She shared: “‘The Single Life’ … what it means to me is just me standing on being single. We need to be comfortable in just being single.
“And if you want to go here and go there, that’s OK too. But I’m a single woman and I’m proud to be with myself.”
Meanwhile, Saweetie previously revealed that her ambition has been fuelled by sexism.
The chart-topping rap star – whose real name is Diamonte Harper – has experienced sexism throughout her life, and she remains determined to prove her doubters wrong.
The ‘Best Friend’ hitmaker said: “I’ve always proved people wrong. I’ve always proved men wrong.
“I think that women deal with it, not only in the [music] industry, but in everyday life, you know, not feeling equal or not being respected. So I wouldn’t even put my focus on experiencing it in the industry.
“I’ve experienced sexism all my life, but I think in times like that, it just fuels my ambition to just prove those who may not see me as an equal wrong.”
Maya Rudolph ’embarrassed and humiliated’ by David Letterman
Maya Rudolph was left “embarrassed and humiliated” by David Letterman.
The ‘Bridesmaids’ star was “in love” with the former late-night television talk show host, but was left heartbroken when he said her name wrong on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ in 2009.
She told The Wall Street Journal: “He said my name wrong, and I just sat there, like, I grew up my whole life in love with you. And now my heart is broken.
“And I’m sitting here embarrassed and humiliated.
“I didn’t know how to handle it.
“I didn’t know how to come up with something funny to say. My public persona muscle wasn’t strong yet.”
On dealing with awkward situations, she added: “I’ve definitely gotten much better. When I’m uncomfortable, I try to be funny.”
David previously admitted he should have retired years before then.
The 75-year-old broadcaster stepped away from the programme in 2015 after more than 30 years and while he believes he outstayed his welcome by a decade, he claimed no one had “the guts” to fire him.
He said in 2019: “Yes it is true, and I’ll tell you what happened.
“It turns out nobody had the guts to fire me. And I should have left like 10 years ago. You want to make sure you have some energy to direct toward other things.”
Adele is ‘too lazy’ and uninterested in Broadway to achieve EGOT status
Adele admits it’s unlikely she’ll achieve EGOT status because she’s not keen on Broadway.
The 34-year-old singer is just a Tony award away from the full set (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) after she added an Emmy to her Grammys and Oscar in September.
Adele took home the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) gong for her CBS special ‘Adele One Night Only’ at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
And while she admits she’s happy to settle with an EGO as Broadway has never interested her and she’s too “lazy” to do two shows a day, there is one role she wouldn’t mind taking on, Rose from ‘Gypsy’.
She told fans at an event to launch her new music video for ‘I Drink Wine’: “I saw [Gypsy] in London and I did love the role of the mum in it. She has a song [Rose’s Turn] when she was like, ‘I wanted to do all of this’ and she’s jealous of her own daughter and she’s really caught up about it. At one bit, she was just a b**** in it which I could nail.”
The ‘Hello’ hitmaker joked she could move her delayed Las Vegas residency to Broadway and cheat.
She continued: “I don’t think I’ve seen enough [Broadway] as a grownup to know if I would want to do it. I was wondering, do I just move the show from Vegas to Broadway and win the Tony? I actually prefer the sound of an EGO than an EGOT. EGO is fun. But never say never. If I move to New York, I get bored, I’ll be on that stage in a hot second.”
Name-dropping musical legend Bette Midler, she added: “I actually know Bette Midler which is a big flex, right? Because she’s one of my idols. She was like, ‘You would never be able to keep up with the schedule on Broadway.’ Because I’m so lazy. I’m so notoriously lazy … I would not be able to do matinees and all that. I don’t have the stamina for that.”
Adele quipped that she “officially has an EGO” after being honoured with her Emmy.
Daniel Radcliffe says playing Weird Al Yankovic was ‘liberating’
Daniel Radcliffe found playing ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic to be a “liberating” experience.
The 33-year-old actor stars as the singer in the new biopic film, ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’, but Daniel didn’t feel under any extra pressure in the role.
Daniel – who is best known for playing Harry Potter in the money-spinning film franchise – told the ‘Backstage’ podcast: “There was something quite liberating for us about how different the people we’re playing are from their real-life counterparts.
“You know, if I had been walking off set, and it was a ‘Serious Al’ biopic, I’m sure I would have been looking at Al every time and being like, ‘Oh, is he happy with that?’ Like, ‘Is that moment we’ve recreated alright?’
“But, you know, when I’m walking down the table, letting loose with a machine gun, it definitely gives you a lot of licence to go ‘we’re just we’re doing something crazy and different’.
“If somebody played me as a crazy person, I’d be delighted.”
Daniel recalls there being a “very celebratory” vibe on set. The actor also loved the speed of the shoot, describing it as an “amazing” experience.
He explained: “It was the fastest shoot I’ve ever done. It was amazing – it was so well-prepared, that you did feel like you were basically getting enough time for everything and everyone came in super prepared.
“Everyone came in also and realized very quickly, ‘oh, we’re getting like two, maybe three takes of everything. And that’s just that’s what it is, and you can’t be too precious about it’.
“The vibe on set was just … it did feel very celebratory all the time. There was no one on set that was indifferent to Al’s work.”
Lauren Jauregui ‘healed’ after split from Ty Dolla $ign
Lauren Jauregui has “healed” after her break-up from Ty Dolla $ign.
The 26-year-old star dated Ty between 2017 and 2019, and Lauren insists that she’s now moved on from their romance.
Discussing her song ‘Always Love’, Lauren shared: “I was feeling the feelings of complexity that are getting out of a relationship that you still want to be in and wish could work, but just wasn’t working for you anymore.
“I, still to this day, have a lot of love and respect for him and what we had together.”
Lauren actually sent the song to Ty, 40, in order to discuss it with him directly.
The chart-topping star – who shot to fame as part of Fifth Harmony – told PEOPLE: “We’re both artists, and we both express ourselves through our music really deeply. But that was then. Now, it’s just art.”
Lauren also insisted that the song’s message still rings true.
The brunette beauty explained: “The songs that I write capture a moment when I’m in it.
“But for me, if the song can transcend the moment and still communicate to me and other people three years of it was written, and after I’m completely healed and not in that space anymore, I think that’s a testament to it needing to go out into the world.”
Lauren enjoyed huge success during her time in Fifth Harmony.
And Lauren is convinced that she now has the right team around her to achieve solo success.
She said: “At the end of the day, there’s a lot of people creating music right now. There’s a lot of incredible s***, and there’s also a lot of mediocre s***. But if mediocre has a plan, mediocre is going to [make more of an impact].
“I’ve learned that lesson, and I really have the right team around me now to help me move in tandem with my vision.”
Lala Kent ‘lost 30 pounds’ amid split from Randall Emmett
Lala Kent “lost 30 pounds from the stress and the trauma” of her split from Randall Emmett.
The 32-year-old star has revealed that her acrimonious split from her ex-fiance took an emotional and physical toll on her.
Lala – who has a 19-month-old daughter called Ocean with Randall – wrote in an Instagram post: “Happy Independence Day to me. A year ago I had my ducks in a row and it was time to execute my game plan of escaping a toxic and unsafe place. Even writing this, my heart has started ponding. I didn’t know what my future would hold. I lost 30 pounds from the stress and the trauma. (sic)”
Now, the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star is determined to “carry on” for the sake of her daughter.
Lala explained: “I had to carry on, without skipping a beat- my daughter needed me. And when it all became too much, I would hand it over to God and the universe. I knew they would cradle me. They did and have ever since. (sic)”
Lala also thanked her mother and her friends for their support.
She said: “Without you, I would have been stuck. Today, I feel happy. It is one day at a time until I reach resolution for the well-being of Ocean.”
Earlier this year, Lala revealed that she was refusing to “mourn” her relationship with Randall because it “wasn’t ever real”.
Lala also insisted she was keen to draw a line under the situation and move on with her life.
Speaking to Larsa Pippen on her ‘Give Them Lala’ podcast, the blonde beauty shared: “I feel like I’m not suffering.
“Yes, there was a lot of betrayal. What he was doing behind-the-scenes was not the same as the life he was portraying when we were around each other.
“So, it’s hard for me to come from a place of, like, mourning a loss when there was no loss because it wasn’t ever real.”
Selena Gomez recalls being ‘terrified of thunderstorms’
Selena Gomez was “terrified of thunderstorms” during her childhood.
The 30-year-old pop star grew up in Texas and Selena has revealed that she lived in fear of thunderstorms and tornadoes.
In a clip from her new documentary, ‘My Mind and Me’ – which has been shared with Vanity Fair magazine – Selena says: “When I was a kid I was terrified of thunderstorms. I grew up in Texas and I was so scared that lightning and thunder would mean a tornado was coming.”
Selena ultimately managed to overcome her fears after reading about thunderstorms and what causes them to happen.
Selena’s mom bought her some books on the subject and it helped to kill her concerns.
The brunette beauty explains: “[She] basically said, ‘The more you learn about it, the less you’re going to be afraid of it.’ And it really helped.”
Selena recently confessed that she feels “nervous” about sharing her “difficulties” in her new documentary.
The ‘Lose You to Love Me’ hitmaker admitted to having mixed feelings about the project.
She explained: “As nervous as I am to put out something this personal, in my heart I know now is the time.
“I hope that by sharing my experiences and difficulties, it will help people feel inspired to share their own stories. And to have hope that things can and will get better.”
The documentary looks at the pop star’s mental health journey, and Selena admitted that the project “took on a life of its own”.
She said: “It was never this thought-out plan thinking we were going to capture these very personal parts of my life. It just evolved from there.”
Selena teamed up with director Alek Keshishian to make the documentary, and she relished the experience of working with Alek, who is best known for his 1991 Madonna documentary.
Selena said: “He is very kind and nurturing, and I have complete trust in him. Most of the time, I forgot he was even around. Sometimes he was just using an iPhone hiding in the corner.”
Matthew Perry went to open houses to steal pills from medicine cabinets
Matthew Perry went to open houses so he could steal pills from medicine cabinets.
The ‘Friends’ actor, 53, said his hunts happened when he was in the depths of his 55 Vicodin pills-per-day addiction.
He makes the admission in an interview on Friday (28.10.22) with Diane Sawyer on ABC as he continues to open up about his addiction battle ahead of the publication of his memoir, ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing’.
Matthew said: “On Sundays, I would go to open houses and go to the bathrooms in the open house and see what pills they had in there and steal them. And I think they thought, ‘Well, there’s no way that Chandler came in and stole from us.'”
Matthew added he considered his open house drugs strategy the “weirdest” thing he did to feed his pills addiction, but also admitted to complaining of fake migraines to get the prescription medication.
He said: “I did all sorts of things – a bunch of doctors, fake migraines and all that stuff.”
Matthew has said he was on 55 pain killers a day and dropped down to only 128lbs in weight in the depths of addiction.
He also tells in his autobiography he woke up “50 to 60” times covered in his faeces while using a colostomy bag.
The actor, who played Chandler Bing on the 10-season run of ‘Friends’ from 1994 to 2004 was fitted with the device after his colon exploded in 2018, leaving him near dead after years of drink and drug abuse.
He said in an excerpt from his upcoming memoir, given to the new issue of GQ magazine: “I had s*** all over my face, all over my body, in the bed next door. When it breaks, it breaks. You have to get nurses.”
Matthew added things got worse when he was then fitted with an ileostomy bag which collects faeces.
He said: “Ten times worse. You have to deal with an ileostomy bag 18, 19 times a day. A lot of suicides with an ileostomy bag. People can’t take it.”
David Beckham was ‘always picked last’ for teams as a ‘small and skinny’ kid
David Beckham was a “small and skinny” kid who was always picked last for sports teams.
The former footballer opened up about his own experiences as a youngster playing sport in new Disney Plus documentary series ‘Save Our Squad’ which shows him mentoring the Westward Boys team from East London who play in the Echo Junior Football League – the same league in which David started his own football career.
One scene shows a boy called Orlando being picked last, and when David asks the team’s coach why the boy was left until the end the man explains it’s because he is “quiet”.
David then goes on to give a rousing speech to the team, explaining he was regularly picked last for teams because of his small statue as a youngster.
In a clip published by DailyMail.com, he told the group: “There’s always going to be a first pick and a last pick, that’s just what it is. When I was your age, I was always picked last, always. Do you know why? Because I was the smallest, I was the skinniest and no one really wanted me on their team, that’s how it was. But you know what, I worked hard.”
The former England captain went on: “If you want to be the best in any job, in any field you go into, you have to be hungry. Are you going to show me and the coaches how hungry you are?”
The documentary series is due for release from November 9 and it will show David taking the team under his wing as they battle against relegation at the bottom of their league.
A recently released teaser for Save Our Squad showed David declaring: “I want to help them to win, that’s why I’m back.”
He previously said of the show: “It is fantastic to… shine a light on the kind of grassroots football that I experienced, which gave me so much at the start of my life in the game… I was so fortunate to have a long and successful playing career and now to have the opportunity to give back to these communities as a mentor is incredible.
“Developing and nurturing young talent is so important in the game and it is great to be working with Disney Plus on this project.”
Khloe Kardashian says it’s ‘not easy’ to move on from Tristan Thompson
Khloe Kardashian has confessed it is “not easy” to move on from her failed relationship with Tristan Thompson.
The reality TV star split from the father of her two children late last year – prior to the birth of their son this summer – after the revelation he had fathered a child with another woman and Khloe recently insisted she’s “learning to un-love” him but it’s proving pretty difficult.
Speaking on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, Khloe explained: “When I said I’m learning to un-love Tristan, I think people – whether it be family or friends, or anyone you’re telling your story to – they’re like ‘Okay, so move on’. I’m like ‘No’. It’s not that easy.”
The 38-year-old ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star went on to insist the breakdown of the relationship has not been easy to process because she shared so much of her life with Tristan.
She added: “The repetition, the routine. When something good happened, I would call Tristan. That’s what I did. Any little thing I would share my life with him… so, it’s learning to reprogram myself. I know that this isn’t the right thing for me and I need to slowly heal and move on, but it doesn’t happen overnight.”
During her appearance on the show, Khloe also opened up about welcoming her little boy via surrogate after previously delivering her daughter True, who is now four.
She said: “I had reasons why I couldn’t carry my second (child)… For me, I’m such a control freak. ‘You’re (the surrogate) a stranger, I just have to trust you?’ I love my surrogate, she was amazing, but I’m still like, ‘I need you sitting next to me all the time. I need to know what you’re doing. What are you eating?'”
Khloe was also asked if she plans to have any more kids, and she replied: “I have one of both, and I think I’m good, shop is closed.”

The ‘Married… With Children’ actress, 50, who was diagnosed in August with the autoimmune disease Multiple Sclerosis that affects the central nervous system, posted an image on her Twitter on Thursday (28.10.22) of a collection of five new canes she had unwrapped.
She said: “I have a very important ceremony coming up. This will be my first time out since diagnosed with MS. Walking sticks are now part of my new normal. Thank you @neowalksticks for these beauties. Stay tuned to see which ones make the cut for a week of stuff.”
Christina said in August about her MS diagnosis: “Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition.
“It’s been a touch road. But as we all know, the road keeps going.”
She paid tribute to all those who were “hurting” on her 50th birthday on Thursday, saying the landmark age was a “hard one” as she encouraged others suffering to “find the strength to lift our heads up”, even on bad days.
The mum-of-one, who shares daughter Sadie Grace, 11, with her musician second husband Martyn LeNoble, 53, tweeted: “Yup. I turned 50 today. And I have MS. It’s been a hard one. Sending so much love to all of you this day. Many are hurting today, and I am thinking of you. May we find that strength to lift our heads up. Mine currently is on my pillow. But I try.”
Leslie Jordan sent funny texts to Max Greenfield before death
Leslie Jordan’s longtime friend Max Greenfield has revealed the late actor’s final text exchange with him prior to his death.
The actor died aged 67 following a car accident in Los Angeles on Monday (24.10.22) while on his way to film his sitcom ‘Call Me Kat’ and Max – who worked with Leslie on TV show ‘Will and Grace’ – has shared their final messages which were sent when the veteran TV star was denied entry to Max’s book signing at a Barnes and Noble store in Los Angeles on October 22.
The 43-year-old ‘New Girl’ star told E! News: “He tried to get in [to the book signing], but the event was sold out and they didn’t let him in. And he texted me and he was like, ‘I tried to get in. I saw that you was so famous they wouldn’t let me in. And they turned my little a** away’.”
Max said Leslie went on to joke: “They won’t let me near you, superstar. That’s what you are. Congratulations. I got to run or I would stalk you.”
The actor added of his late friend: “In these last few years that he had, the world really got to see that [his talent] and accept it and experience it and he got to experience it and really embrace all of that love. And boy, oh, boy, did he take advantage of it. It was so wonderful to be on the sidelines of that.”
News of Leslie’s death was confirmed by his agent David Shaul in a statement that read: “The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan. “Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times. What he lacked in height he made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner and human being. “Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today.”
Ariana Grande dyes hair blonde ahead of shooting Wicked
Ariana Grande has dyed her hair blonde ahead of shooting ‘Wicked.’
The 29-year-old pop star has taken on the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the upcoming adaptation of the smash hit Broadway musical – which tells the backstory of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and explains how the witches of Oz came to be both good and wicked – and has changed her signature dark locks to blonde in an apparent effort to match her character.
Alongside a snap of her new look, she wrote on Instagram: “new earrings.”
Production on the two-part movie – which will also feature ‘Bridgerton’ star Jonathan Bailey as love interest Fiyero – is reportedly set to begin principal photography in London this November, with US-born superstar Ariana said to have rented a “stunning” eight-figure mansion in the capital city to live in while she works on the project.
The ‘Into You’ hitmaker will star alongside ‘Aretha’ actress Cynthia Erivo – who will take on the role of misunderstood green girl Elphaba – in the upcoming musical and director Jon M. Chu decided to make the movie into two parts because it would be “impossible” to put the complex story into a single film.
He said: “Thank you for all the support these past several months in anticipation of the ‘WICKED’ movie. Here’s what happened: as we prepared this production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of ‘WICKED’ into a single film without doing some real damage to it. With more space, we can tell the story of WICKED as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.”
‘Wicked: Part One’ is set to be released on 25 December 2024.
Charli XCX: You have to do a deal with the devil to be mega-famous
Charli XCX says you have to “do a deal with the devil” to be mega-famous.
The ‘Used To Know Me’ singer admits that becoming a pop star means you have to sacrifice your soul and be prepared to “run people over” to achieve superstardom.
Speaking to NME for this week’s Big Read, she pondered: “To be famous – a stratospheric level of famous – you have to f****** want that s*** to happen to you, and you have to do the deal with the devil.”
Speaking about playing the mainstream game on her last LP ‘Crash’, Charli added: “You have to f****** go there and run people over. I’m not saying it’s a negative thing, it’s not, but I think with ‘Crash’ I definitely wanted to play that game. But I think because of who I am, and the artist that I am and the reference points that I have and the world that I come from, it’s like … there’s just this part of my brain that doesn’t want to function like that.”
The ‘Boom Clap’ hitmaker didn’t go into the project with the aim of selling out.
She added: “I don’t think I was ever like: ‘I’m going to sell out the mainstream, but I’m going to do it my way’. I was like, ‘I want to sell out and be mainstream… ‘”
Charli insists she will move forward with her career with “no more fear” of being held back by record labels or disappointing people.
She explained: “I think I’ve just been really inspired by conviction recently.
“I always have been, but I had to witness it in person to really, fully understand that. I want to be completely committed and convicted to an idea and just f*** fear. I think that’s really what it is. No more fear going forward.
“No fear of anyone on the business side holding you back, no fear of people not understanding, no fear of fans being disappointed if maybe you don’t do exactly what they think they want from you, and no fear from yourself. No f****** fear! I want tunnel vision. That’s the way forward!”
Kylie Minogue to switch sounds again on new album
Kylie Minogue’s next album will have a new sound.
The Australian pop princess admits it’s challenging to establish a new sonic direction, even after being in the music business for more than three decades.
Kylie is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: “I’ve been making albums now for over 30 years but each one is a different journey.
“I’m ready for new music.
“I can’t reveal what the sound is yet but it is all super exciting.
“It’s always a challenge to find that next sound.”
She added: “My last album was mostly made during lockdown.
“To be back in the studio with some of my favourite people is simply a joy.”
Kylie went back to her disco-pop roots on 2020’s ‘DISCO’.
BMG boss Alistair Norbury confirmed recently that Kylie would be bringing out the follow-up to ‘DISCO’ in 2023.
He said: “So next year we’ll start our third album with Kylie, and we only expected to do one. So the roster is building to a size where it is almost self-sustaining. We already know our first Q1 and Q2 releases for next year.”
It is believed the 54-year-old star has teamed up with a number of “exciting” artists for the record, including songwriter Kamille.
A source said in July: “Kylie didn’t get a chance to tour her last album because of COVID restrictions, but she’s thrown herself back into writing music.
“She really loves being in the studio and is spending this summer working on her next record with some really exciting collaborators like [the songwriter] Kamille.
“‘Disco’ proved that she still has what it takes to make a massively successful pop album and people are queuing up to work with her.
“There are major plans in the pipeline and she can’t wait to have another record out and to be back on the road.”
While Kylie is anxious to get back on tour, she wanted to make sure she had new music for her fans first.
The insider added: “It has been more than three years since her ‘Golden’ tour and she is itching to perform.
“But that won’t happen now until this new album is out. It’s going to be well worth the wait.”
Millie Bobby Brown loves watching friend Mariah Carey sing while they eat Chinese food
Millie Bobby Brown loves watching her friend Mariah Carey burst into song while they eat Chinese food together.
The ‘Enola Holmes’ actress, 18, revealed she has struck up a friendship with the singer, 53, during an appearance on Thursday’s edition (28.10.22) of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’.
She said when asked by Jimmy, 48, if there was anyone “surprising” who is a fan of her work, Millie said: “I just like met Mariah and was like, ‘Oh’, we connected… I love the way that she leads her life with so much power. And she has so much knowledge, and she’s so wise.
“And she’s just been an incredible guiding light for me and then we connected.”
Millie – who calls Mariah by her nickname ‘Mimi’ – added about her friend’s habit of breaking into song when she visits her home: “It’s a real thing… she does it when we’re eating Chinese food.”
Speaking about how she has sung with Mariah in her studio, the actress added: “It’s the most magical. She is the most talented singer ever.”
Millie, who is dating Jon Bon Jovi’s model son Jake Bongiovi, 20, was promoting ‘Enola Holmes 2′, in which she returns to play the title character – Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister.
She said: “This is something that I have been wanting to do since I was little. I mean, 13, 14 I read the book series and I went to my dad and I said, I wanted to make it.
“So for me, my older sister and I have collaborated on this project and made sure it came to light in the most authentic and British way as possible. And, you know, I never had, growing up, a female British lead to look up to and Enola is that for me and it’s been an amazing experience creating it.”
Kanye West’s school ‘reopens hours after abrupt closure’
Kanye West’s school has reportedly reopened just hours after parents were told it was closing with immediate effect.
The Donda Academy – a private school in California named after the rapper’s late mother Donda West – was said to be closing for the remainder of the year in an email from principal Jason Angell on Wednesday (26.10.22) who said the decision came “at the discretion of our founder” amid plans to reopen in September 2023.
However, TMZ.com reports a second email went out to parents late on Wednesday (26.10.22) announcing the school would be open as usual the following day. The website reports the email read: “Join us tomorrow morning in worship for the return of Donda Academy. With the help of our parents and community, we are back and returning with a vengeance! … The children of Donda are going to change the world. Apologies for the late email! See you bright and early!”
The site reports the second email landed four hours after the closure announcement.
The school opened in August 2021 and reportedly costs around $15,000-a-year for pupils to attend. Rolling Stone magazine previously reported the Donda Academy boasts around 100 students with classes reportedly including choir singing and parkour.
The 45-year-old ‘Stronger’ star has been embroiled in controversy in recent weeks after posting anti-Semitic messages on social media and promoting T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan ‘White Lives Matter’ during Paris Fashion Week in France.
He has since lost a number of lucrative commercial deals with companies including Adidas, Balenciaga and Gap cutting ties with the hip-hop star.
The New York Times has also reported that amid the ongoing furore, the Donda Academy has been cut from a number of high school basketball tournaments including the Play-By-Play Classic in Kentucky and the Hoophall Classic in Massachusetts.
Katy Perry says eyelid ‘mishap’ was a ‘party trick’
Katy Perry says the moment she appeared to get her eyelid stuck during her Las Vegas residency was a “broken doll eye party trick”.
The singer, 38, seemed to suffer the glitch on Monday (24.10.22), prompting fans to say she had experienced a “mechanical failure” and joke she had been replaced by a cyborg.
Katy shared a clip of the moment on Thursday (27.10.22) on her Instagram, and wrote in a caption: “Welcoming all my #flatearthers #spaceisfakers#birdsarentrealers #skyisntbluers to come see my broken doll eye party trick IRL in Vegas next year! The show’s set list is a fun through memory lane going all the way back to 2008, a time when we weren’t all frozen by the paranoia of our own echo chambers!
“This show is a nonstop party about finding unconditional love and strangely (for me) not political at all, heck I pour beer out of my t*** (that’s a party trick too… I don’t actually lactate hops silly goose!) Hope to sing along with you in 2023! And we’ll drink, this one’s on me, cause we’re all #chainedtothealgorithm #therealproblemlolhaha.”
Katy paused her performance in Vegas while she seemed to struggle to open her right eye before continuing her performance.
She started her ‘Play’ residency in Las Vegas in December 2021, with stage stunts including the singer emerging from a giant toilet.
Katy, who shares daughter Daisy Dove, two, with her fiancé Orlando Bloom, 45, told The Cut site on Monday (24.10.22) she is usually “long gone” by the time people recognise her from her motherhood classes.
She said: “We do a lot of mommy-and-me classes. This morning, I was with her at a ballet class, and this woman goes, ‘Oh my god, you look so much like Katy Perry.’
“And I was like, ‘Hi, nice to meet you. I care about my kid and take her to classes’ – I’ve become a member at all the museums – we go to the zoo, the Natural History Museum, the kids’ museum. That’s my new club.
“People do recognise me, but by the time they’re like, ‘Is that…? Was that…?’ I’m already gone.”
Elon Musk completes 44bn Twitter takeover
Elon Musk has completed his $44 billion takeover of Twitter.
The world’s richest man closed the deal on Thursday night (10.27.22), and following the takeover two of the company’s top executives, chief executive Parag Agrawal, and chief financial officer Ned Segal are said to have departed the firm, according to Bloomberg.
Referring to Twitter’s logo, Larry T Bird, Elon tweeted: “the bird is freed”
Twitter is yet to confirm the sale of the company, but an early investor in the firm confirmed to the BBC that a deal had been completed.
The 51-year-old businessman – who is the CEO of Tesla – has changed his Twitter bio to read: “Chief Twit”
Earlier this week, Elon – who has more than 110 million followers on the platform – shared a video of himself arriving at Twitter HQ carrying a sink.
He wrote: “Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!”
Elon also posted: “Meeting a lot of cool people at Twitter today!”
What’s more, during the week Elon used Twitter to outline his motivation for buying the platform, and his vision for how it could moderate content.
He tweeted in a message called ‘Dear Twitter Advertisers’: “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilisation to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.”
Elon added there is a huge danger social media will splinter into far right-wing and far left-wing echo chambers that could divide society, warning: “In the relentless pursuit of clicks, much of traditional media has fuelled and catered to those polarised extremes, as they believe that is what brings in the money, but, in doing so, the opportunity for dialogue is lost.
“Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences! In addition to adhering to the laws of the land, our platform must be warm and welcoming to all, where you can choose your desired experience according to your preferences, just as you can choose, for example, to see movies or play video games ranging from all ages to mature. Gwen Stefani says songwriting helped her overcome dyslexia
Gwen Stefani has declared songwriting helped “unlock” her creativity after years of struggling with dyslexia.
The No Doubt star didn’t discover she had the learning difficulty – which causes problems with reading, writing and spelling – until she became a mother but realised it explained so much of her early years – and she now understands how writing songs helped her enourmously.
Speaking at the New York Women in Communications’ 52nd Annual Matrix Awards where she was honoured for career achievements on Wednesday night (26.10.22), Gwen told the audience: “Being dyslexic definitely has had challenges for me in my life and I will say the dyslexic advantage has probably made me who I am. The moment I wrote my first song – I had no idea that I could do that. It just happened – it unlocked something inside me.”
The 51-year-old singer went on to joke how her difficulties with spelling influence her 2004 hit single ‘Hollaback Girl’, laughing: “[I} went on to teach the whole world how to spell ‘bananas’.”
Gwen previously opened up about her dyslexia in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music for his ‘At Home With’ series, admitting she wasn’t aware of her condition until her sons Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, six, from her marriage to ex-husband Gavin Rossdale began to have trouble reading.
She explained: “One thing that I’ve discovered through having kids is that I have dyslexia – everyone has things that happen and mine was that. And I feel like a lot of the problems that I have had or even decisions that I’ve made for myself stem from that, because now the children – obviously, it’s all genetic – they have some of those issues.”
However, Gwen insisted her boys are getting the right support with their education, adding: “Now they get all these benefits. They have these incredible teachers and schools and they don’t have to have shame about it. They understand that their brain functions in a different way. All of our brains do, you know what I mean?”
Duke of Sussex’s memoir title choice ‘shows his sense of humour’
The Duke of Sussex’s memoir title choice is said to show his “sense of humour”.
Brand expert Nick Ede added Prince Harry’s decision to call the upcoming book ‘SPARE’ – said to be a reference to his nickname “the spare heir” – is also aimed at showing the royal has been “through a lot”.
Nick told the Mail Online’s FEMAIL section on Thursday (27.10.22): “The choice of the title ‘SPARE’ is not only provocative but also leans into Harry’s sense of humour too.
“Although it is a bold choice, it’s a brave one and it sets out immediately that this book will be anything but showing that Prince Harry is a ‘spare’.
“The use of the singular title is one of empowerment and strength.
“A singular word for a book title is empowering and using spare is a way of reclaiming it and making it a powerful empowering tool for himself and for the reader.”
Nick said about the cover photo for the book, out January 10, 2023, which shows Harry staring face-on into the camera: “(It) is not one of him looking dapper and polished but one of him looking, relaxed, stripped back and quietly confident.
“It doesn’t rest on a stylised imaged but one that is him looking honestly into the camera ready to bear his vulnerabilities and story to the media.
“The detailed close-up image of Harry shows him as a strong handsome man with an earnest face looking point blank at the camera is on a mission to tell his truth.
“He is not suited and booted or too polished, with his tee and now familiar leather necklace on show.
“It’s a strong commanding image of a man who’s been through a lot and who’s here to tell that story of grief and love in equal measure.”
It has been reported Harry was paid a $20million (£18.4 million) advance for the book as part of a three-title deal worth £36.8 million, but the royal has donated $1.5 million (£1.3 million) from it to the children’s charity Sentebale and £300,000 to WellChild, a charity for disabled youngsters for which he serves as patron.
Katy Perry welcomes ‘all conspiracy theorists’ to her Las Vegas residency
Katy Perry is welcoming “all conspiracy theorists” to her Las Vegas residency following her apparent eye twitch.
The 38-year-old pop star has recently finished headlining her ‘PLAY’ concert series in Sin City but a clip in which she appeared to be suffering an eye twitch went viral earlier this week which inspired various Internet users to share conspiracy theories relating to the incident and Katy appeared to poke fun at the comments as she announced a string of new shows for next year.
Alongside the now-famous footage of her eye repeatedly opening and closing, she wrote on Instagram: “Welcoming all my #flatearthers #spaceisfakers #birdsarentrealers #skyisntbluers to come see my broken doll eye party trick IRL in Vegas next year! The show’s set list is a fun ride through memory lane going all the way back to 2008, a time when we weren’t all frozen by the paranoia of our own echo chambers!”
The ‘I Kissed a Girl’ hitmaker went on to insist that her show is “not political” and joked that even though she pours beer from her cleavage in the show, she does not actually “lactate” beer from her breasts.
She added: “This show is a nonstop party about finding unconditional love and strangely (for me) not political at all, heck I pour beer out of my tits (that’s a party trick too… I don’t actually lactate hops silly goose!) Hope to sing along with you in 2023! And we’ll drink, this one’s on me, cause we’re all #chainedtothealgorithm. #therealproblemlolhaha.”(sic)
Katy captioned the post: “POV: when you see new 2023 PLAY dates” (sic)
‘PLAY’ will resume its run at The Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas in February 2023 and will continue until April.
Rihanna is back with her first single in 6 years for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Rihanna is back with her first single in six years.
The ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker, whose last solo release was her 2016 LP ‘ANTI’, has returned with the moving ballad ‘Lift Me Up’ for the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack.
The slow-burner is a touching tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman – T’Challa in the 2018 original film – who passed away following a secret battle with cancer in 2020 at the age of 43.
The movie’s director and writer Ryan Coogler received a co-writing credit along with Beyonce and Drake’s songwriter Tems and producer Ludwig Göransson.
Tems said: “I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them.
“Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honour.”
Rihanna was Coogler’s first choice for the soundtrack.
The new mother was the perfect fit because motherhood is a big theme in the Marvel flick, and they were “looking for artists who would embody it thematically.”
He said this week: “Rihanna, man, we knew she was at a point in her life as well where she was focusing on different things — focused on business, motherhood, which is a big theme in our film. We were holding out hope that maybe it could work out and boy did it for this song.
“I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
The 34-year-old singer gave birth to her first child, a baby boy, with A$AP Rocky in May.
The film hits cinemas on November 11, stream ‘Lift Me Up’ on all major streaming services now.
Katie Holmes returning to stage for first time in 10 years
Katie Holmes is returning to the stage after a 10-year absence.
The ‘Dawson’s Creek’ actress has joined the cast of an Off-Broadway production of ‘The Wanderers’ – written by playwright Anna Ziegler – which is set to begin preview performances at the the Laura Pels Theater in New York in January with Katie playing a movie star who becomes involved in the life of a Jewish novelist.
The Roundabout Theatre Company show will be helmed by The Old Globe Theatre’s artistic director Barry Edelstein and is planned to open on February 16 for a limited run through until March 26.
A statement from the theatre company states of the play: “Orthodox Jews Esther and Schmuli are newly married, and their future is written in the laws of the Torah. Secular Jew Abe is a famous novelist who believes he can write his own future … until an unexpected email from a movie star puts his marriage to the test and threatens to prove him wrong.”
The rest of the cast and additional creative team members will be announced at a later date.
Katie made her Broadway debut in 2008 starring in a revival of Arthur Miller’s classic play ‘All My Sons’ opposite stars including John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson. Her last appearance on stage came 10 years ago in a 2012 production of ‘Dead Accounts’ by Theresa Rebeck.
Khloe Kardashian credits sister Kim with inspiring her surrogacy journey
Khloe Kardashian has credited her sister Kim with inspiring her to have a child via surrogate.
Khloe and her ex Tristan Thompson became parents to a little boy earlier this year after starting the journey towards parenthood prior to their split and the reality TV star – who is mum to daughter True who she delivered herself – has revealed Kim’s own experiences with using a surrogate helped her navigate her own path.
Speaking on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, Khloe explained: “If it wasn’t for Kimberly, I definitely don’t think I would have been as comfortable [using a surrogate]. I wouldn’t have been aware, I wouldn’t have known as much.”
However, Khloe insisted the two women had very different experiences of becoming a mother via surrogate. She went on: “I think her journey was way more … it was just more comfortable for her. I’m such a control freak.”
Kim decided to use surrogates to birth her two youngest children with ex-husband Kanye West – daughter Chicago and son Psalm – after being diagnosed with a medical condition called placenta accreta, which makes labour and both very difficult.
Kim previously said of her condition: “They say that this is what some women died from as a result of childbirth back in the day, without proper care. I’m so thankful that my doctor was able to catch this and address the issue immediately.”
She underwent five surgeries in a bid to have another child naturally, but doctors warned her it would be too dangerous to get pregnant again.
‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star Kim said of the devastating news: “Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful and she said, ‘I can’t carry anymore kids…it’s the worst. It’s not going to be happy for me … I had a full break down … I give up.”
She then turned to surrogates to give birth to two more children, saying of the decision: “I always knew surrogacy was an option, now it’s my reality. Whatever is meant to be will be.”
Matthew Perry woke up ’50 to 60′ times covered in his faeces while using colostomy bag
Matthew Perry woke up “50 to 60” times covered in his faeces while using a colostomy bag.
The ‘Friends’ actor, 53, was fitted with the device after his colon exploded in 2018, leaving him near dead after years of drink and drug abuse.
Matthew added things improved when he underwent a series of surgeries for his gastrointestinal perforation, which he said “fixed things”.
He said he is now “very grateful” and added his body is covered in “plenty of scars” from his hospitalisations.
Matthew added about the marks: “I look at them with gratitude, because it helped me stay alive. But I have to live my life 24/7 with all of this scar tissue I’m constantly aware of.
“It feels like I’m doing a sit-up at full stretch all the time.”
Matthew, who played Chandler Bing on the 10-season run of ‘Friends’ from 1994 to 2004, used his colostomy bag for nine months and was given just a two percent chance of survival after spending two weeks in a coma on life support.
His upcoming memoir, ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing’ details his years of drug use and recovery.
He said he burst into tears in hospital and was “disturbed” as he feared thought his life was over.
During one of his many rehab stints, at a facility in Switzerland, Matthew said he almost died again when his heart stopped for five minutes.
He said: “This huge, strong guy leaped on top of me and did CPR, and broke eight of my ribs and saved my life.”
