From parades, to camping gear, to hotel recommendationseverything related to traveling with pets seems to revolve around a dog set, causing some parents of cats to wonder if they can take their favorite furry kids on trips.
The good news is that traveling with cats is not only possible – it is very possible. In fact, an increasing number of cat parents are planning trips tailored to Flaffy.
Why cats travel less
Parents of cats make fewer trips with their cat guns, in part because cats are naturally less likely to love boxes and car trips, and in part because their independence and self-sufficiency make it easier for them to stay home.
However, people increasingly want to travel with their kittens.
“We get a lot of inquiries with questions about traveling with cats,” says Kim Salerno, founder and CEO of the company. TripsWithPets.com. “There is definitely a growing interest in hotels, destinations and activities that host cats.”
Not as different as you think!
Parents of cats may be surprised to learn that many opinions travel the same for both cats and dogs. Like any dog, your ability to take a cat on a trip depends largely on his temperament. Some cats love adventure and car rides, while others are obscene, or hate being tied to carriers. If your cat is calm but in poor health or he is not used to safety restrictions, it is best to leave him at home until these problems are resolved.
Are cats included in the “permissible placement of pets”?
If you have a cat that is happy to travel, there are many places to welcome your cat. Many hotels where dogs are allowed also allow cats. Always keep in mind the pet fees, restrictions and rules for leaving cats unattended in the room.
As for activities, cats can go anywhere, dogs can go: hiking trails, pets, beaches, outdoor festivals, pet stores and more. You can even sit in the courtyards of restaurants with a cat.
Keep kittens safe
Wherever you take the cat, make sure it is chained or carried. Backpacks are a great option; they will keep your cat safe and your hands will be free.
Remember that “pet content” means that dogs are likely to be present, and watch for that accordingly. Never take your cat where dogs are allowed without a leash.
In short, with a little preparation, planning and care you can really take your best cat companion with you on almost any trip!
