Southeasterly winds Sunday morning will change to southwesterly in the afternoon behind a cold front. On Sunday evening, Chicago will have a short period of snow and rain. A light snowfall is possible at night, when the temperature drops to 20 degrees.
The weather is getting colder at the beginning of the work week.
The extended forecast calls for a return to colder weather in Chicago early in the work week. On Monday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a temperature of up to 34 degrees, about ten degrees below normal. Tuesday will cool down to the mid-30s, but there will be a bit more sunshine. Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with temperatures returning to normal in the mid-40s. Thursday looks like the mildest day of the week with temperatures in the low 50s and a chance of rain. It looks like there will be a chance of rain and snow on St Patrick’s Day next Friday, with temperatures in the high 40s.
