2 people, 3 dogs dead in one-car crash, fire on I-65 in northwest Indiana
LAKE COUNTY, Ind. — Two people and three dogs were killed in a single-vehicle crash and fire Sunday morning on Interstate 65 in Northwest Indianaaccording to Indiana State Police.
According to the initial investigation, police Lt. James Brasser said in a news release that the driver left the interstate and crashed into a tree around 7 a.m. near State Route 2.
After hitting the tree, the vehicle caught fire, Brasser said. Witnesses were able to pull the driver out of the car, but were unable to pull the passenger out.
Both the driver and passenger, as well as three dogs, died in the crash, Brasser said.
Their identities have not been released by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
