A 15-year-old boy was fatally wounded on a front porch in Englewood, Chicago police say

A 15-year-old boy died from his injuries Tuesday night while sitting on the porch of a home in the Englewood neighborhood, according to police.

The boy was sitting on his porch in the 700 block of West 60th Street around 9 p.m. when he was approached by two men armed with handguns, police said. They shot the boy and then fled the scene on foot.

The boy, who was shot in the abdomen, also tried to run away, but was eventually taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 10:34 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

As of Wednesday morning, no one had been arrested and detectives were investigating, police said.
