A military jet returns to Midway after shooting down a bird
CHICAGO — A military plane had to return to Midway Airport after it struck a bird early Monday evening.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a military C-37 returned safely to Midway after reportedly hitting the bird earlier that day around 5 p.m.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
US Air Force website it says the C-37s “are twin-engine turbofan aircraft procured to perform international special airlift missions for senior government and Department of Defense officials.”
It is still unclear what was the purpose of the aircraft’s presence and flight at that time.
