Chicago police warn of 15 armed robberies, most in Humboldt Park

Police are investigating a series of at least 15 armed robberies, most of which have occurred in Humboldt Park since late October. One of the robberies happened in Austin.

According to police, the suspects approach on foot or pull up in a car, pull out handguns, then demand and take the victims’ belongings. In one of the robberies, the suspects took possession of a vehicle.

In addition, in one of the incidents, the suspects hit the victim with a pistol. In another robbery, they shot the victim.

Police described the suspects in the public alert as three to four men between the ages of 16 and 29, 5-foot-5 to 6-foot-6, weighing 130 to 160 pounds, generally wearing dark clothing and black ski masks. One of the robberies involved a 17- to 18-year-old woman, police said.

The first four robberies happened on Oct. 21 in Humboldt Park. The first happened in the 3400 block of West Huron Street at 2:23 a.m. The second occurred in the 1000 block of North Trumbull Avenue at 6:50 a.m., followed immediately by two robberies in the 1100 block of North Monticello Avenue at 6:55 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Two robberies took place on October 26. The first happened in the 1000 block of North Lawndale Avenue between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m., and the second happened a short time later in the 3500 block of West Thomas Street at 6:30 a.m.

On October 29, four more robberies took place. At 5:43 a.m., the first robbery occurred in the 1000 block of North Central Park Avenue. Another robbery happened shortly after 6 a.m. in the 500 block of North Springfield Avenue. Two more robberies occurred in the 3300 and 3700 blocks of West Huron Street at 8 a.m. and 8:52 a.m., respectively.

Three robberies took place on November 4. The first happened in the 1000 block of North Pulaski Road at 1:12 a.m., the second in Austin, in the 700 block of South Cicero Avenue at 1:39 a.m., and the third in the 1000 block of North Lawndale Avenue at 9:10 p.m.

The two most recent robberies happened on Nov. 6 in the 600 block of North St. Louis Avenue between 1:30 and 1:50 p.m.
