Don’t wing it. Why you should book pet-friendly hotels in advance
Posted by TripsWithPets.com: Pet Friendly Hotels + Travel
Wings can be a good thing. It takes the pressure off the need to plan and make decisions – and opens the door to spontaneity and free spirit. However, wings it also comes into play if you just procrastinate. There’s a time and place to stay put, and booking a hotel room for you and your pet is not the time (or place).
If you really want a relaxing and enjoyable trip with your furkid, you should start by planning where you are going to stay and booking accommodation in advance. Booking yours pet-friendly hotel room advance has many advantages that definitely outweigh the appeal of spontaneity and/or procrastination.
Get the room you want (and need).
When you’re traveling with your pet, there are usually special room preferences or requirements. Booking a ground floor room is a common request from pet parents. Rooms on the first floor make it easier for the pet to get out of the potty. Also, pets with mobility issues prefer accommodation on the first floor. Also, people traveling with their pets prefer a room away from “busy” areas such as elevators or stairs to avoid possible barking and stress. There are also some hotels that have a designated number of special rooms designed for people traveling with pets.

Booking early helps ensure you get a room that’s sure to please you and your four-legged traveller. And of course, booking early will help ensure you get a room with all the desirable “human” features and amenities you want.
YOUR pets should be welcome, right?
Not to forget, not all hotels allow pets. And there are specific ones that allow furry guests at all pet rules. These include pet weight limits, number of pets allowed, types of pets, and pet fees, among other things. The reality is that it will take a bit more effort to find a hotel that will accommodate your 80-pound dog and three cats than it will if you’re traveling with a single 10-pound chihuahua.
Booking your hotel in advance will allow you to take the time to find a pet-friendly hotel that will accommodate your entire crew. This will also give you time to find better options when it comes to pet fees.
Get great deals
In general, saving on the cost of hotel rooms is one of the main reasons why people make hotel reservations in advance. Early booking usually means a better rate. As the departure date approaches, the number of rooms becomes smaller because the demand for rooms increases. This means you’ll likely have to pay more for a room at a pet-friendly hotel. This usually happens when travel plans fall on holidays and weekends. Also, starting with a pet hotel search early gives you more time to “shop around” for the best deals.
No stress to win
You are traveling with your precious pet. It is supposed to be an enjoyable, bonding and stress-free experience.
Something to reduce stress is always recommended. Securing a hotel room is probably the most important thing you should do when traveling with your pet (unless you’re flying). Why don’t you take the time to make sure you have the perfect place to stay with your pets when you arrive at your destination? No need to hang that big question mark over your head. Do yourself a big favor. Book a pet-friendly hotel in advance.
