One person died, 6 were injured in a car accident on the south side

CHICAGO — A man was killed in a car crash when he suddenly swerved while police were trying to stop him.

Police stopped a 22-year-old man in the 1400 block of South Michigan Avenue around 8:00 p.m. when he suddenly swerved as officers approached on foot and crashed into two other vehicles.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An 18-year-old woman who was sitting with him was also taken to the same hospital in stable condition.

Another passenger in the car, 21, was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

An 18-year-old man, who was driving the crashed car, was also taken to the hospital in satisfactory condition.

Another man, 32, and his daughter, 14, and another boy, 14, were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

No further information is available at this time, police are investigating the incident.
