The driver of the semi was injured after a tire flew through the windshield on Stevenson
COOK COUNTY, IL — The driver of a semi truck was injured after a tire went through their windshield on Stevenson Friday afternoon.
Around 3:25 p.m., police believe a Chevy Tahoe was northbound on I-55 near 1st Avenue. At the same time, a semi truck was traveling southbound on I-55 in the same area.
The Tahoe lost its driver’s side rear tire and crossed all lanes, striking the windshield of a semi-truck.
The semi-truck driver was taken to the district hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident caused a traffic jam all the way back to Dan Ryan.
