Twitter to start charging $20 a month for verified users: report | WGN 720 Radio
(A hill) — In one of his first moves at Twitter, Elon Musk is set to charge users $20 a month to verify the social media platform, This is reported by The Verge.
The announcement of the transition to a fee for blue ticks caused widespread criticism among users.
Twitter employees must launch the new subscription feature by Nov. 7 or they will be fired, Musk told employees on Sunday.
Users who have already been verified will have 90 days to sign up or lose their blue ticks.

A billionaire tycoon has officially taken over Twitter on Thursday night following a contentious legal battle over its $44 billion bid to buy the social media platform.
Shortly after taking control of the company, Musk fired top Twitter executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal and CFO Ned Segal.
This was previously reported by the Washington Post that Musk planned to cut nearly 75 percent of Twitter’s workforce after acquiring the platform, though he denied that figure.
Musk has also indicated that he wants to reverse some content moderation policies, and researchers say that hate speech and misinformation have already increased in recent days.
Musk also plans to allow former President Trump to return to the platform seeks to end Twitter’s lifetime bans.
Trump was banned from Twitter last year after he posted tweets on the platform on Jan. 6, 2021, that incited violence at the Capitol.
Twitter did not respond to a request for comment on the matter.
