WATCH LIVE | A special adoption ceremony for Cook County families ahead of National Adoption Day on Saturday
COOK COUNTY, IL — In Cook County, adoption court fees have not been charged for a long time. three times more than the fees in DuPage, Will and McHenry counties until they were reduced from $265 to $89 on Tuesday.
The change comes just in time for National Adoption Day on Saturday and an event on Friday where several families will officially adopt children and share their adoption stories.
The ceremony will be presided over by Hon. Maureen Hannon, Hon. Patrick Stanton with Chief Justice Timothy Evans and County Council President Tony Preckwinkle.
