A $2 billion Powerball jackpot ticket was sold in California
The only winning ticket for the record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot was sold in California.
The declaration came later technical problems delayed Monday’s draw which, after being announced on Tuesday morning, resulted in the following numbers: 10, 33, 41, 47, 56 and Powerball number 10.
Meanwhile, one ticket worth $2 million was sold in Florida. The exact location of both large prize tickets was not immediately available.
This Powerball jackpot was historic in more ways than one. It was the largest Powerball jackpot in history, the largest in U.S. lottery history, and the second lottery prize to exceed $1 billion this year.
In July, the Mega Millions jackpot reached a a historic $1.34 billion. This remained unclaimed until September when two Illinois winners came forward to take it. That jackpot is now the fourth largest in US history, according to The Associated Press.
Powerball is played in 45 states as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
