A lawsuit was filed in connection with the school bus accident involving the hockey team of St. Ignatius

CHICAGO — Hockey players, parents and two coaches at St. Ignatius Preparatory College are suing over a crash that injured 16 students.

The lawsuit was filed on Monday. More information is expected to be released at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday.

Around 8:00 p.m. on Nov. 12, a semi-truck ran a red light and crashed into the JV hockey team bus as it was heading to a hotel after a tournament in northern Indiana.

As a result of the accident, three students were seriously injured.

Victor Santos, the semi-driver, failed a field sobriety test, police said. He faces four counts driving causing grievous bodily harm and 26 offenses of reckless driving.

Santos and the trucking companies are named in the lawsuit.
