Willis Tower is taking on the stair-climbing fundraiser
CHICAGO — Locals gathered at the Willis Tower on Sunday to participate in SkyRise Chicago, an annual stair-climbing fundraiser to raise money for one of the nation’s premier rehabilitation hospitals, located right here in Chicago.
This year marked the 14th iteration of the fundraiser, which saw participants either climb the 105 flights of stairs at Willis Tower in person or virtually by running, walking, walking or cycling on behalf of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
“We’re raising dollars today that we hope will exceed $1 million,” said Laura Ferrio of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. “It will go directly to our patient care programs, research and many of our programs that are underfunded.”
Shirley Ryan AbilityLab specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation for adults and children with severe and complex medical conditions, from traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries to strokes, amputations and cancer-related disorders.
