After the trades, how many picks do the Bears have in the 2023 NFL Draft?

LAKE FOREST – If there’s one thing you can say about Ryan Pose, it’s that he’s shown no fear in doing what he needs to do to change the Bears’ lineup.

Moves made over the past week have seen the general manager trade away two of his top defensive players to gain draft capital this spring.

On Wednesday, the Bears traded Robert Quinn to the Eagles for a fourth-round pick in the 2023 draft. The trade that sent linebacker Roquan Smith to the Ravens gives the Poles second- and fourth-round picks this spring.

So how many picks do the Bears have in the 2023 NFL Draft after what’s happened over the past two days?

At the moment, the number is nine, and the team has a pick in every round except the sixth. In October 2021, former general manager Ryan Pace traded that pick to the Dolphins to acquire punter Jakeem Grant, who is returning to the Pro Bowl.

Here are the number of picks the Bears will make in each round.

1 round – 1

2nd Round – 2 (Bears Own & Ravens)

3 round – 1

4th Round – 2 (Bears Own & Eagles)

5th Round – 2 (Bears Own & Ravens)

Round 7 – 1

The 2023 NFL Draft will be held in Kansas City from April 27-29 and will be a critical event for the Pole as he continues to rebuild the Bears’ roster. To cut payroll, a number of players from the Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy eras were either released or traded, including Khalil Mack, Quinn and Smith.

At least Mack was in the offseason, as the Bears must now move forward without two key quarterbacks for the final nine games of the 2022 season.
