Update 11/7/2022:
Approved the collective bargaining agreement with the Springfield Education Association for the 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — After two months of negotiations, Springfield School District 186 has reached a tentative agreement with the Springfield Education Association.
The agreement was reached before midnight on Wednesday, October 26.
Two parties failed to reach a deal in August with SEA president Aaron Graves claiming the district had not “addressed key concerns raised by the general membership.”
At that time, a mediator was added to the process to better facilitate discussion.
Earlier this month, the school board took time to honorary school board member Mike Ziemerswho died in his sleep at the age of 72.
District 186 and the SEA are expected to hold a vote at the Nov. 7 Board of Education meeting.
