Durbin comments on attack on Pelosi | Main stories
DECATUR, IL (WAND) – Threats and acts of physical violence against politicians and their families have increased in recent years. There are calls to cool down the rhetoric.
In Bloomington this week, Sen. Dick Durbin, R-Ill., commented on the attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Durbin was not happy about the jokes some right-wing politicians made about the attack on the 82-year-old man.
“An assassination attempt should not make any politician laugh. Violence in the name of politics is unacceptable at any level, neither Democrats nor Republicans,” said Durbin. “We were at their house. We spent the night at their place. We value them as great friends and great family.”
Senator Durbin said he would support increased resources for the security of members of Congress.
