Identified killed 18-year-old woman Champagne | Main stories

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) – The Champaign County Coroner has identified the 18-year-old woman killed Friday night as Niceri Carter.

Champaign police said they were dispatched to the area of ​​N. Elm Street and W. Bradley Avenue around 4:52 p.m. Friday for a report of a shooting.

Shortly after officers arrived, they noticed Carter had arrived at a nearby hospital with injuries.

Carter was shot several times in the torso and leg. She died later Friday night at the hospital.

The investigation shows that Carter was walking down Elm Street when two masked men approached her and opened fire.

After shooting Carter, the subjects fled. There were no arrests.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

Police are asking nearby businesses and residents with outdoor surveillance cameras to notify the Champaign Police Department.
