Jay Leno burns his face, cancels performances | Main stories

(NBC Los Angeles) Jay Leno has canceled an appearance at a conference after suffering a serious medical injury, reportedly a burn to his face, after one of his cars caught fire without warning.

Lena, a car fanatic and longtime Tonight Show host, was being treated at Grossman Burn Center in West Hills, outlets reported.

The 72-year-old was scheduled to speak at Forum 2022 at the Aria in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

NBCLA spoke with George Swift, a mechanic at Big Dog Productions and a good friend of Leno’s, who said the recovery will be long, but Leno will be fine.

A spokesman, who was not present at the time of the fire, said Leno was working in his garage in Los Angeles on Saturday when one of the cars burst into flames and Leno was injured.

He canceled his commitments for the rest of the week.
