Millikin Public Safety is investigating reports of shots fired near campus | Main stories

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Millikin University Public Safety has sent out an email to Millikin students informing them that an investigation is underway into reports of shots fired near campus.

According to the email, Millikin staff and community members reported hearing gunshots on the west side of campus around 7:45 p.m.

Decatur police responded to the area but were unable to find any signs of a shooting. DPD was given conflicting accounts, with some witnesses saying they heard a noise like fireworks.

Millikin University Public Safety does not believe there is any threat to campus at this time.
