Mother, daughter killed in crash in Edgecombe County: NC cops
A 19-year-old girl and her mother were killed when their car hit an 18-wheeler in North Carolina.
The mother was driving on an Edgecombe County highway when the car crossed the center line. The car hit the tractor head-on, North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper Caleb Johnson said in a telephone interview.
Both the driver of the car and its passenger died at the scene on Friday, October 28, WITN reported.
Police identified them as 50-year-old Veronica Williams of Farmville and 19-year-old Deasia Washington of Tarboro. Based on information released at the scene and from the medical examiner, officials learned that Williams and Washington were mother and daughter, Johnson said.
First responders evaluated the driver of a semi truck at the scene of the crash, which was reported at approximately 1:15 p.m. on North Carolina Highway 33. It happened at a site near the town of Princeville, about 75 miles east of Raleigh.
No one has been charged in the fatal crash, and alcohol and speeding are not suspected, Johnson said.
