No injuries were reported after a police officer fired his gun on the Northwest Side
An off-duty Chicago police officer fired his gun Wednesday morning on the Northwest Side.
It’s unclear what prompted the officer to shoot at about 8:15 a.m. in the 2000 block of North Laramie Avenue, and as of Wednesday afternoon, police said it was unknown if anyone had been shot.
The officer was taken to the hospital for “observation” and released, police said.
The officer was the only person taken to the hospital, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt said.
The officer will be charged with administrative duties for a period of 30 days, the police informed.
A spokesman for the Office of Civilian Police Accountability said they are in the early stages of investigating the use of force with the Chicago Police Department.
