NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 runs Genshin Impact at 13K resolution

YouTuber “Golden Reviewer” uploaded a video showing the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 running the wildly popular Genshin Impact at an incredible 13K resolution.

Ten days ago, Golden Reviewer uploaded a video showing Genshin Impact running at 7K resolution on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. His PC specs are listed below:

  • Intel Gen Core i7-10700KF
  • Motherboard Asus Prime Z490-P
  • 64GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 RAM
  • MSI GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING X TRIO 24G GPU
  • Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB

Golden Reviewer runs the aforementioned Genshin Impact benchmark at 6880 x 2880 with graphics settings at the highest quality. It also unlocked the fps cap so the game could offer more than 60 fps.

Although this is not an integrated benchmark test of the system and components, it provides information throughout the video to show the quality at such a high resolution.

While Genshin Impact is a mobile and PC title, it doesn’t strain the system like it would with more graphically heavy titles like Cyberpunk 2077 or Marvel’s Spider-Man video games. Yesterday, a YouTuber posted images of Genshin Impact running at incredibly high screen resolution on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card.

He stated that he set Genshin Impact to the highest settings possible without completely ruining the graphics and gameplay. The screen resolution is 13760 x 5760. No AI-based upscaling like DLSS was involved, but if the game is able to integrate such support, we can see even better performance while maintaining visual quality.

abnormal for daily use and gaming PC displays. The 34-inch Alienware Quantum Dot Display this writer is using is paired with a GeForce RTX 3080, and without any tweaks, the display’s highest resolution is 3440 x 1440 pixels. I tried scaling down my screen to get a higher result, but the highest I could comfortably get by without experience was double my max settings (6880 x 2880 pixels).

Here’s an updated video that Golden Reviewer uploaded to his YouTube account to show the results:

During the video he mentions that he got the highest fps (average) at 30 fps. In Genshin Impact, this allows you to take a screenshot and save it to your system. Golden Reviewer claims the image’s megapixels are approximately 80MP and the file size is 86MB. An increase in small details, the quality he got from NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU impressive.

Downsampling is a process that can produce similar results, especially on older systems like this author’s. My editor suggested that I should find resources on my own so that I could conduct a similar test. The key takeaways I got from playing with downsampling are a few details:

  • When customizing my NVIDIA RTX 3080 GPU settings, I’m immediately warned that if anything goes wrong with the display, GPU, and more, I’ll void my warranty and never see another replacement until I do it myself . So as a newbie to gaming and working in tech where we test things like this, there are risks, and understandably so. But if you’re new to this, think twice before downsampling, because if something goes wrong, you’ll have to buy components to replace what’s broken.
  • I have two monitors, so I can set one monitor as the primary and only display I use, but I have little experience with this and am thinking about it. The higher resolutions I tried above 6880 x 2880 zoomed in so much that only some of the many desktop icons appeared. The screen asking if I accept the new settings was missing because it wasn’t accessible to me. Fortunately, the system is fault-tolerant; If you do not accept the new settings, it will revert to the previous settings. The most important thing to remember is not to press “Enter/Return” as this will immediately accept the new settings and you will have to figure out how to return the settings to normal. In this case, don’t panic and start pressing random buttons when the screen flashes or goes black, or you’ll be stuck until you figure out how to reset.
  • Finally, I know that Genshin Impact isn’t the most demanding game for my system, so my concerns about downsampling have been minimized. If I tested it on some of the games I mentioned in this report, the GPU would be more stressed. So, again, be careful before trying this with other game titles (if you’ve decided that’s what you want to do with your PC system).
