Pritzker, Bailey begin the last full week of the campaign
Governor from the Democratic Party J. B. Pritzker and Republican challenger Darren Bailey went to the suburbs on Monday as the final week of the campaign for both candidates began.
In Arlington Heights and Des Plaines, Pritzker — a self-funded billionaire — began the week by stumping other Democrats for votes.
Trailing in the polls, Bailey has targeted independent voters, enlisting the help of former Democrat-turned-independent congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard at a rally in Glen Ellyn tonight at 7 p.m.
Pritzker used the opportunity to criticize Gabbard’s rhetoric.
“She’s a pro-Russian conspiracy theorist,” Pritzker said. “She’s been a true Democrat ever since, and she’s obviously bought into the fake Facebook and internet lies that we’re seeing.”
Bailey’s running mate Stephanie Trussell and Illinois Republican Party Chairman Don Tracy are also scheduled to appear at Bailey’s rally in Glen Ellyn. WGN will report other highlights from the action tonight at 9 p.m
