Rain World Series, Astros-Phils to play Game 3 on Tuesday | WGN 720 Radio

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Game 3 of the World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros was postponed due to rain on Monday night in a 1-1 tie, pushing the entire fall schedule back a day.

Rain postponed Game 3 to Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park when the weather was supposed to be clear. When a washout was announced an hour before the scheduled first pitch on Halloween night, whistles rang out on the court.

Game 4 will now be held on Wednesday, with Game 5 set for a scheduled Thursday night travel day — Game 5 will compete with an NFL game that, of all teams, features the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles in Houston against the Texans.

Friday will be a travel day if needed. This was the original date of Game 6.

Game 6 was moved to Saturday and Game 7 is scheduled for Sunday. All games will start at 20:03 ET.

After two games in Houston, the World Series moved to the Phillies on Monday night, and the Astros were set to send right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. against Phillies right-hander Noah Syndergaard.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said McCullers would remain the starter in Game 3 if rained out. There was no immediate indication that Syndergaard would pitch for the Phillies.

The Astros did not name a starter for Game 4, and the Phillies were going with left fielder Suarez.

On a rainy, blustery Sunday, the Phillies clinched the NL Championship Series with a win over San Diego. The Phillies won the 2008 World Series with a Game 5 victory that took three days due to heavy rain.
