Two killed, 1 seriously injured in an accident in Geneva
GENEVA, IL — Two women were killed and a man was seriously injured Saturday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Geneva.
Geneva police and the Batavia and Geneva fire departments responded to the crash at the intersection of Fabyan Parkway and Kirk Road around 12:45 a.m.
Police say the women were in a Dodge Charger traveling westbound on Fabian. The Charger ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into a Hyundai Santa Fe traveling south on Kirk Road.
Police said the crash caused the Charger to crash into a secondary crash with a tow truck waiting on Fabyan Parkway to turn north onto Kirk Road.
Police said the Charger was driven by a 25-year-old Rockford woman and had an unidentified female passenger.
Both women died on the spot.
A 50-year-old North Aurora man who was driving the Santa Fe was airlifted to a hospital in Downers Grove. He is listed in serious condition.
The 31-year-old tow truck driver from Batavia was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been discharged.
No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation. The names of the drivers will not be released until their families have been notified.
The intersection and parts of Kirk Road and Fabian Parkway were closed while authorities investigated the scene. By 8 a.m., all roads were open
