(NEXSTAR) — Problems with the Minnesota Lottery caused a nearly 10-hour delay Monday in the drawing of the record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot.

The Minnesota Lottery said the delay was due to problems with its sales verification system after “unprecedented interest in the lottery.”

“The delay was necessary to confirm that the Powerball drawing can be conducted safely and accurately,” the lottery said. “At no time was the integrity of the process compromised.”
