1 dead, 2 injured in Waukegan mall parking lot shooting

Waukegan, IL — One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting in the parking lot of a Waukegan mall Wednesday night.

Waukegan Police responded to the shooting in the 1300 block of North Green Bay Road around 6:20 p.m., where three men were found shot to death upon arrival.

The men were taken to the hospital for medical treatment. One North Chicago man in his 20s was seriously injured, and two other men, one from North Chicago and one from Waukegan, in their 30s and 40s, are in stable condition.

A man in his 20s died from his injuries and was pronounced dead on Thursday morning.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown to the police.

Investigators believe the male shooter fired several shots while the three men were in the parking lot. No one was shot in any particular store.

No arrests have been made at this time, and the police are actively investigating the incident.
