Community pulls together to help Warrensburg family | Main stories

WARRENSBURG, ILLINOIS. (WAND) – A shooting rocked this quiet community the night before Thanksgiving.

“You know, Warrensburg is a very small town. A very close-knit community. People know their neighbors; they know people in the neighborhood. Reach out and partner with the school on a daily basis, as this woman has done many times over,” Kirk said. Riley, village president.

“I think everybody’s heartbroken, I mean, I think we’re all compassionate and try to be, but how do you put yourself in that situation,” said Tricia Campbell, owner of Game Time Graphics.

According to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, 41-year-old Tabitha Lourash of Warrensburg was reportedly shot by her 57-year-old husband. Four children were left without a mother.

“As soon as everyone heard the news, I know I woke up on Thanksgiving morning and made a Facebook post. And just said my heart is broken, I want to help, but I don’t know what to do,” Campbell said.

Community comes together for children. The Village of Waresnburg has several ways to donate to help the family.

“There’s a lot of concern for the four kids who never had a say in what happened, so this is a call to the community to come together and help these kids. The Village of Warrensburg has opened an account at our bank. People can donate to this, The Lourash Family Assistance,” Riley said.

Local resident Tricia Campbell is using her skills to increase support for the village. Selling ancillary clothing in her and her husband’s small business.

“We just decided to go with Warrensburg Strong. So we just offered it in short sleeves, long sleeves, crew neck and hoodies. We thought this would be a visual way for people to show the Lourash family their support. All proceeds from this sale will go to this family,” Campbell said.

There are four locations in Warrensburg where donations can be collected. That will be Village Hall, Buena Vista Bank, Warrensburg Coffee Shop and all 121 Coffee Run locations. If you are interested in supporting a Campbell business, please visit the website here.
