IU Student Killed During Arrest in New York; Murder suspect Ethan Williams arrested
NEW YORK – A Brooklyn man was arrested Thursday in connection with the 2020 shooting death of an Indiana University student while visiting New York City.
Police arrested 26-year-old William Freeman in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Ethan Williams.
Williams, from Indianapolis, was sitting on a floor in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn when he was wounded by a bullet in the chest Oct 24, 2020 Police initially said it was either a stray bullet or a gunman targeting Williams in a case of mistaken identity.
Ethan’s father, Jason Williams, said a prosecutor told him this week that Freeman confessed to the murder, reports New York Post.
“For two years now, I have prayed every day, usually several times for justice,” the elder Williams said. Message.
Ethan Williams was in New York with friends to make a skateboarding video when he was killed.
The ramp at the Willard Park skatepark in Indianapolis was created in 1990 honor of Williams, who loved to ride and read. The ramp is designed as a book, as a homage to Williams.
