Man, woman killed in high-speed crash on Chicago’s South Side: Police

CHICAGO — Two people were killed in a high-speed crash on the city’s South Side overnight.

The crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday in the 8100 block of South Stony Island. Police said the driver of a white Honda sedan was driving north on Stony Island at a high rate of speed when he lost control and crashed into a tree.

According to the police, the man died at the scene. A woman who was a passenger in the car also died on the spot.

The victims have not yet been identified.

The Division of Emergency Management is investigating.
