NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Graphics Card Listed at US and UK Retailers Starting at $1,200
NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards won’t be released until November 16th, but retailers in the US and UK have started stocking custom models.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB graphics cards arrive in US and UK retail, starting at US$1,200
There are currently two vendors that list the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB cards. These include Newegg (US) and LaptopsDirect (UK). Both sellers listed the 16GB variant, as we know the RTX 4080 12GB variant was “unlaunched” just a few weeks ago. This way, it will make it easy for consumers to tell the difference between a card, rather than trying to tell the difference between two cards with the same name with a big difference in performance.
Starting with Newegg in the listings we have PNY XLR8 Gaming VERTO GeForce RTX 4080 cards in both non-OC and OC versions. These models come with a starting price of US$199.99 for the non-OC variant, while the OC variant should cost a bit more. Both cards were listed, but there is no pre-order link, and users will be able to shop on November 16.
British retailer, LaptopsDirect, lists three Palit GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards in custom GameRock and OmniBlack versions. Prices start at £1,449 and go up to £1,529. The cheapest model is priced at US$1,682, which is 40% above NVIDIA’s MSRP. There are two reasons why the prices are so high: firstly, this is a preliminary list, secondly, UK retailers also include VAT, which is around 22% for the region. So that should be enough to explain the higher price.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB “Official” Specs
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 The 16GB graphics card is expected to use a reduced AD103-300 GPU configuration with 9,728 cores or 76 SMs out of a total of 84 units, while the previous configuration offered 80 SMs or 10,240 cores. While the full GPU comes with 64MB of L2 cache and up to 224 ROPs, the RTX 4080 can get 48MB of L2 cache and less ROP due to its shortened design. The card is expected to be based on the PG136/139-SKU360 PCB. The graphics card is said to have a peak clock speed of 2505 MHz.
In terms of memory specs, the GeForce RTX 4080 is expected to feature 16GB of GDDR6X, which is said to be clocked at 22.5Gbps via a 256-bit bus interface. This will provide a bandwidth of up to 720 GB/s. That’s still a bit slower than the 760GB/s bandwidth offered by the RTX 3080, as it comes with a 320-bit interface, but with a low 10GB capacity. To compensate for the lower bandwidth, NVIDIA could integrate next-generation memory compression to compensate for the 256-bit interface.
