Snow and cold air settle across Central Illinois | Main stories

(WAND WEATHER) – Central Illinois received its first widespread snowfall of the season early Tuesday.

As soon as the saturation process took place before dawn, it began to snow.

Accumulations across the area will range from 1/2″ in the southeast to 3″ in the northwest. A winter weather warning remains in effect until midday Tuesday for our northern and western counties.

Light snow with small accumulations is possible on Wednesday and Thursday.

Bitterly cold air will persist until the end of the week.

The maximum temperature on Friday and the weekend will be between 20 degrees and 30 degrees. Overnight lows will drop into the twenties with chills in the single digits.

As the week of Thanksgiving begins, it starts to warm up.
